A pump device includes a pump driver comprising a first diaphragm and a second diaphragm, the first and second diaphragms each comprising a middle portion bounded by an outer portion, the first and second diaphragms being spatially separated from each other at the respective outer portions, and coupled together at the respective middle portions. The pump also includes a fluid passageway and a pump chamber fluidly connected to the fluid passageway, wherein the pump chamber comprises a moveable wall coupled to the pump driver at the middle portions of the first and second diaphragms such that a fluid movement between the pump chamber and the fluid passageway is induced by movement of the middle portions. An input device is configured to obtain a target flow rate. A controller is configured to operate the pump driver and a flow regulator based on signals received from a flow detector.

System and method for controlling administration of medical fluid

A system for controlling administration of medical fluid includes a fluid passageway to which is attached a first flow regulator, a second flow regulator, and a flow detector. The system also includes a controller for controlling the first and second flow regulators in response to a measurement taken by the flow detector of fluid movement in the fluid passageway. The first flow regulator, such as a pump, is configured to maintain fluid movement at flow values greater than an unrestricted flow value. The second flow regulator, such as a variable adjustable valve, is configured to maintain fluid movement at a flow value less than the unrestricted flow value. A method of controlling administration of medical fluid includes obtaining a target flow value, moving fluid through the disposable assembly, taking a measurement of fluid movement in the disposable assembly, and actuating a flow regulating apparatus.

An optical flow sensor is provided, including a heater configured to heat an aliquot of fluid in an adjacent fluid-delivery channel and a sensor disposed adjacent to the fluid-delivery channel downstream from the heater. The sensor is configured to illuminate fluid in the fluid-delivery channel, to collect reflected light from the illuminated fluid, and to determine when the heated aliquot passes the sensor based upon an amount of the reflected light. A method for determining a flow rate of a fluid is also provided. The method includes heating an aliquot of the fluid at a first position of a fluid-delivery channel, illuminating fluid in the fluid-delivery channel at a second position downstream from the first position, measuring an amount of light reflected from the illuminated fluid to determine a change in the amount corresponding to the heated aliquot passing the second position, and calculating the flow rate of the fluid based upon a distance between the first position and the second position and a time between the heating the aliquot and the heated aliquot passing the second position.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for inventorying packages on a storage device which consists of removing packages from the storage device with a variable pitch inventory screw, scanning a surface of the packages to read indicia on the surface and recording information obtained from the indicia about the contents in the packages.
