An inkjet ink composition comprising water, and at least one water-dispersible polyurethane/urea polymer having at least a first soft segment formed from a polyol prepolymer and at least a second soft segment formed from a polyamine prepolymer, wherein the polyol prepolymer forms urethane bonds in the polyurethane/urea and the polyamine prepolymer forms urea bonds in the polyurethane/urea, and further wherein at least about 4% by weight of the combined soft segments is formed by polyamine prepolymers that form urea bonds in the polyurethane/urea polymer.

Inks for high speed durable inkjet printing

A thermal, non-silver halide-containing image receiver element includes a support and an aqueous-coated image receiving layer. This receiving layer comprises a water-dispersible polymer having a polyurea or polyurethane backbone and up to 25 weight % of the water-dispersible polymer comprising polysiloxane side chains that are covalently attached to the backbone, each of the side chains having a molecular weight of at least 500. Aqueous dispersions of polyester ionomers and crosslinking agents can also be present.

An inkjet printing system includes an inkjet printer responsive to digital signals and containing an ink composition having: (a) water, (b) dispersed pigment particles, (c) a humectant, and (d) a polyurethane additive having at least a first soft segment having siloxane groups, the additive having a weight average molecular weight of at least 10,000 daltons and a sufficient number of acid groups to provide an acid number greater than 60. An improved combination of scratch resistance and jetability is obtained.

A method of manufacturing a micro-lens array and light-emitting device, comprising forming a first structured polymer film with close packed surface cavities having a mean diameter of less than 20 micrometers and a relatively lower surface energy surface, forming a transparent second structured film with an array of microlenses formed thereon corresponding to the cavities of the first structured film, wherein the second structured film comprises a relatively high surface energy material and has a refractive index greater than 1.45, and wherein the microlenses are randomly distributed, separating the second structured film with the micro-lens array from the first structured polymer film, and attaching the second structured film to a transparent substrate or cover of a light-emitting device through which light is emitted. Use of microlens arrays formed from relatively high surface energy materials enables matching refractive index of microlens array to that of light-emitting devices substrate or cover through which light is emitted and relatively high elastic modulus providing good scratch resistance.

Fusible inkjet recording element and printing method

The invention relates to a composition comprising a polyester copolymer that comprises (a) recurring dibasic acid derived units and polyol derived units, at least 50 mole % of the dibasic acid derived units comprising dicarboxylic acid derived units each containing an alicyclic ring, (b) 25 to 75 mole % of the polyol derived units containing an aromatic ring not immediately adjacent to each hydroxyl group of the corresponding polyol, (c) 25 to 75 mole % of the polyol derived units of the polyester are non-aromatic, and (d) at least 0.1 mole percent, in sum total, of units derived from a multifunctional polyol having more than two hydroxy groups and/or units derived from a polyacid having more than two carboxylic acid groups and derivatives thereof. The invention is also directed to shaped articles, especially extruded films, made from such compositions. Examples of such extruded films are image-receiving layers for use in an image-recording element.

Polyester compositions useful for image-receiving layers

The present invention is directed to an image-receiving layer comprising a polyester, or a polyester blend, which exhibits excellent lightfade and high dye transfer efficiency, as well as low materials cost. In particular, the invention relates to an image recording element comprising a support having on one side thereof an image-receiving layer comprising a polyester comprising at least 0.1 mole percent of a multifunctional polyol having more than two hydroxy groups and/or a polyacid having more than two carboxylic acid groups, including derivatives thereof, based on the total acid derived units. The invention is useful, for example, as a dye-receiver element for thermal dye transfer having on one side of the support a dye-image receiving layer. The polyester is especially advantageous for use in dye-receiving layers that are extruded instead of solvent-coated.

The present invention relates to an image recording element comprising a support having on one side thereof an image-receiving layer, wherein the image-receiving layer comprises a polyester comprising (a) recurring dibasic acid derived units and polyol derived units, at least 50 mole % of the dibasic acid derived units comprising dicarboxylic acid derived units each containing an alicyclic ring comprising 4 to 10 ring carbon atoms, which ring is within two carbon atoms of each carboxyl group of the corresponding dicarboxylic acid, (b) 25 to 75 mole % of the polyol derived units containing an aromatic ring not immediately adjacent to each hydroxyl group of the corresponding polyol; and (c) 25 to 75 mole % of the polyol derived units of the polyester contain an alicyclic ring comprising 4 to 10 ring carbon atoms. Image recording elements of the invention are especially useful for thermal dye transfer printing or electrophotographic printing of images with dyes, pigments, or toner materials.
