A method and apparatus are provided for relaying text between a hearing impaired person and a third party through the public switched telephone network. The method includes the steps of converting the text between a multifrequency textual format on the public switched telephone network and a packet format on a local area network and exchanging the text with the hearing impaired person through the local area network.

Packet telephony gateway for hearing impaired relay services

An automatic call distribution system includes an automatic call distribution network, a plurality of network terminations interconnectable with the automatic call distribution network using a first bus protocol, and an interface which is interconnectable with one of the first network terminations using the first bus protocol. The interface is operable for interfacing between the first bus protocol and a second bus protocol different than the first bus protocol, and a network termination functional module is interconnectable with the interface using the second bus protocol. An automatic call distributor interconnectable with a network termination using a first bus protocol is used by a method that includes the steps of coupling a bus converter with the network termination using the first bus protocol and coupling a network termination functional module with the bus converter using a second bus protocol different than the first bus protocol. The bus converter is operable for converting between the first bus protocol and the second bus protocol.

Bus interface for automatic call distributor

A periodic process timer is incorporated into a multi-tasking operating system of an automatic call distributor system. The process timing method includes the steps of: a) initializing a plurality of accumulator values corresponding to a single process of a plurality of processes, each accumulator value defined to represent a total processing time for each process; b) recording a starting value of a counter device; c) activating the counter device prior to execution of a selected process; d) permitting the selected process to execute; e) stopping the counter device after execution of the selected process; f) reading and ending value of the counter device; g) determining a difference value between the starting value and the ending value in the counter device; h) adding the difference value of the counter device to the accumulator value corresponding to the selected process; i) continuously repeating steps (b) through (h) until a predetermined amount of time has elapsed, to obtain a total accumulator value representing the total processing time for each selected process; and j) saving the accumulator values for each selected process.

Periodic process timer

An apparatus and method is provided for structuring a database of an automatic control system for common access by a third party software application and an automatic control system application of the automatic control system the database being generated using a set of database modeling tools. The method includes the steps of defining a set of parameters for the database and implementing the database for the set of parameters under a standard query language using the modeling tools. The method further includes the steps of generating a set of database headers using the modeling tools; and compiling an object code for the automatic control system application and third party software application using the database headers.
