A first image for image matching from a camera capture device at a first location is received for purposes of image matching. A highest match confidence score of the first image to a particular stored enrollment image is determined. One or more image or user characteristics associated with the first image or first user is identified. The identified image or user characteristics and highest match confidence score are added to a facial recognition monitoring and feedback model. Subsequently, a particular one of the stored image or user characteristics consistently associated with a below-threshold highest match confidence score is identified, and a notification is displayed or transmitted including an indication of an identified facial recognition low match pattern and identifying the particular one of the stored image characteristics or user characteristics.

A process at an electronic computing device (device) for automatic and selective context-based gating of an electronic digital assistant speech-output function includes detecting, via a sensor communicatively coupled to the device or via a notification received at the device, an event associated with a need to reduce a cognitive load on the user. Responsively, temporarily gating a portion of an electronic digital assistant speech-output function to prevent reproduction to the user of one or more first speech-output events generated during a first period of time associated with the event. Subsequently, and after detecting that the event has ended, ending the temporary gating to allow reproduction of one or more second speech-output events generated during a second period of time after the event has ended.

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for allocating resources from component carriers to a public-safety mobile radio. An embodiment takes the form of a process that is carried out by carried out by a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) Evolved Node B (eNodeB). The eNodeB makes a first determination to allocate resources to a given mobile radio. The eNodeB makes a second determination that the given mobile radio is a public-safety mobile radio. In response to making the first and second determinations, the eNodeB selects, based on one or more public-safety-communication criteria, a component carrier from among a plurality of component carriers managed by the eNodeB. The eNodeB allocates resources on the selected eNodeB component carrier to the given mobile radio.

Methods and systems for allocating resources from component carriers to a public-safety mobile radio

A communication system and a method of communicating data. A first backhaul site can be dynamically selected from a plurality of backhaul sites that are each configured to wirelessly communicate with an access point. A controller can dynamically configure a transmission parameter used to communicate a first backhaul data stream between the access point and the first backhaul site. The first backhaul data stream can be derived from a source data stream and can be wirelessly communicated between the access point and the first backhaul site. A second backhaul site also can be selected. A second backhaul data stream also can be derived from the source data stream and wirelessly communicated between the access point and the second backhaul site. The first and second backhaul data streams can be combined.

The invention provides for path optimization for routing of a communication session in a network having a plurality of core networks coupled to a plurality of access networks. Both a core network and an access network perform the path optimization by determining a plurality of possible paths to a plurality of target access points to form a target matrix, determining a corresponding route preference factor for each possible path of the target matrix, and selecting, from the target matrix, a possible path having an optimal route preference factor. An overall or complete path, for routing of the communication session, is then determined either by combining the selected possible paths, or by selecting one possible path as a complete path. The route preference factor, for each possible path, is determined based upon various routing variables, such as quality of service, bandwidth for the communication session, route complexity, interconnect cost, routing cost; resource loading, resource availability, and operator preference for traffic biasing.

In addition, a method for providing soft handoff in a cellular communication system is provided, the method including receiving a first path packet at a first node, the first path packet having a content within the first node, creating two packets having the content, sending the two packets to a transmitter, transmitting the two packets via two different radio channels to a second node, and creating an estimated packet including an estimate of the content in response to the two packets received at the second node.

Method and apparatus for routing packet data in a communications system

An ATM hub transcoder system (AXC) is coupled to a base station controller (BSC), a mobile switching center (MSC), and a base transceiver subsystem (BTS). In one embodiment, the transcoder system is comprised of an ATM switch subsystem, a transcoder subsystem (XC), a base transceiver subsystem interface (BTSI), and a mobile switching center network interface subsystem (MSC-NI). The ATM switch provides coupling and communication of data in an internal ATM format between each of the XC, BTSI, MSC-NI, and BSC, responsive to control signals from the BSC. The MSC-NI provides for conversion of the format of the data between the internal ATM format and a synchronous format. In one embodiment, the synchronous format is used for communication between the MSC and the NI, responsive to the MSC and the BSC, and the BTSI provides for communicating mobile subsystem information between the BTS and the XC, responsive to the BTS and the BSC. In one embodiment, the interface between the ATM switch and the MSC-NI is PCM encoded in the internal ATM format data. The In an alternate embodiment, the interface between the ATM switch and the BTSI is of digitally encoded voice data in the internal ATM format. The MSC-NI couples the data originating from the MSC via the ATM switch to the transcoder subsystem (XC).

Transcoder for use in an ATM-based communications system

A base station system (BSS) encompasses a base station controller (BSC), ATM transcoder (AXC), and one or more Base Tranceiver Subsystems (BTS). The AXC provides for the coupling of external mobile subscriber subsystems (MS) and a public switched telephone network (PSTN). The BSC provides for communication with and control of the ATM transcoder hub subsystem. In one embodiment, the ATM transcoder subsystem provides a first set of signals to the BSC subsystem to signal the base station controller as to call flow management data. The BSC is responsive to the first set of signals from the ATM transcoder hub to generate a second set of signals coupled back to the ATM transcoder hub. This second set of signals provides for the control of transcoding and conversion necessary to communicate between a wireless air communications format data and a call management protocol format data utilized in communication to the public switch telephone network. In one embodiment, the communication between the PSTN and the AXC is in an ATM format and in an alternate embodiment a synchronous format is used. The BSC provides control and sequencing of all call control operations. Control is preferably near real-time. In one embodiment, call control operations comprise call setup, breakdown, and hand-off among the ATM transcoder hub (AXC), the Base Transceiver Subsystem (BTS), and the PSTN via a Mobile Switching Center (MSC).

A network interface (NI) system provides for communicating encoded digital data between a connection-based network and a plurality of cellular communications networks. Each of the cellular communications networks is comprised of a plurality of cell sites that communicate with a plurality of mobile units via radio signals. The cell sites provide for converting data received in said radio signals (e.g., embedded data) into electronic digital data signals and converting the electronic data signals into radio signals. The connection-based network has a plurality of delivery points which function to translate from the electronic data into a form used by said connection-based network and from the form used by said connection-based network into the electronic data. The network interface system is comprised of a base transceiver subsystem (BTS), a base station controller (BSC), a Base Station Transceiver Subsystem Interface (BTSI), a transcoder (XC), an operations maintenance and control subsystem (OMC), and an ATM switch providing for communications of the electronic data as packetized ATM cells between the BTSI, NI, XC, and the BSC. The BTSI is coupled to each of the cell sites and to the ATM switch. The BTSI provides for packetizing the electronic data as ATM cells for transmission by the ATM switch, for transmitting and receiving the packetized ATM cells communications with said ATM switch, and for depacketizing the electronic data responsive to the received ATM cells from the ATM switch.
