A method includes issuing a request, from an application of a contributing client device to a stream administration server, to contribute messages from the application to a feed adapter within a data communication environment via a message stream which bypasses the stream administration server. The feed adapter is coupled to a feed source via a feed adapter input stream and to at least one subscribing device via a feed adapter output stream. The feed source is separate from the contributing client device. The feed adapter input stream is separate from the message stream. The method includes receiving, in response to the request and an authentication of the contributing client device. A set of constraints on messages is to be transmitted from the contributing client device to the feed adapter.

Methods, systems, and products for subscribing for application messages in a multicast messaging environment as disclosed that include: requesting, by a message receiving device, a stream administration server to initialize a message subscription for application messages from a message sending device; receiving, in the message receiving device from the stream administration server, a data communications endpoint of a multicast message stream from the message sending device; beginning to listen, by the message receiving device, for the application messages at the data communications endpoint; and notifying, by the message receiving device after beginning to listen for the application messages, the message sending device to publish the application messages at the data communications endpoint.

Subscribing for application messages in a multicast messaging environment

Methods, apparatus, and products are disclosed for computer data communications in a high speed, low latency data communications environment that include: brokering, by a stream administration server, establishment of a message stream from a contributing client device to a feed adapter, including authenticating the contributing client device, authorizing the contributing client device to send messages to the feed adapter on the message stream, and establishing in messaging middleware of the contributing client device a set of constraints on messages to be transmitted from the contributing client device to the feed adapter; receiving, in the messaging middleware of the contributing client device from an application of the contributing client device, a message for transmission to the feed adapter on the message stream; determining, by the messaging middleware, whether contents of the message satisfy the constraints; and administering the message, by the messaging middleware, in dependence upon whether the message satisfies the constraints.

The present invention extends a servlet filter chain model to include the ability to dynamically define helper functions. These dynamic helper functions modify the state of an XCAP or SIP request or response as it transitions through the filter chain. The dynamic helper functions are defined via descriptor files that are based on the document type. Each filter in the filter chain has the ability to reference and invoke the helper functions to modify the state of the request and/or response.

A product action bean is provided for updating lines and keywords in computer system configuration flat text or ASCII files, which is especially useful for during installation of software applications on computer systems. In its embodiment as a Java Bean, it is customized and configured using a visual application builder across multiple computing platforms. The primary bean is a container bean, which includes an engine, and which provides a graphical user interface (&ldquo;GUI&rdquo;) that developers can easily specify the required changes along with the file name to be changed when an application is installed or uninstalled. The container bean also contains a set of action beans which perform operations to modify the ASCII file, such as finding strings or lines, adding strings or lines, and deleting strings or lines. The specified actions are performed as a &ldquo;unit of work&rdquo; in the customized bean. Alternate classes of objects for modifying text files may be included in the container bean to expand the action options available to the developer.

Method and system for modifying text files for computer configuration

A method for installing a network application is disclosed. First, the hardware resources of at least a local computer system in the network are determined. Next, the a number of users in a cell of the network is determined. The installation process determines whether the hardware resources of the local computer system can provide an adequate level of performance for the number of users in the cell if all of the network application are installed on the local computer system. If not, an installation plan is calculated to distribute components of the network application in a plurality of computer systems to provide an adequate level of performance for the cell. The installation plan is presented on a local system display. The network administrator is afforded the opportunity to change the assumptions used to generate the installation plan. Once satisfied, the network application is installed in the plurality of computer systems according to the installation plan.
