Provided are various methods and systems for producing peroxycarboxylic acid compositions, and in particular, nonequilibrium compositions of peracetic acid. The methods and systems control flow rates and proportions of feedstocks/reactants, perform the required sequence of reaction steps to produce high yield peroxycarboxcylic acid solutions in a continuous manner, and provide optimal reaction time and reactant mixing for continuous and safe on-site production.

Process for the continuous on-site production of percarboxycilic acid solutions and device for its implementation

A method for separating a hydrogen-rich product stream from a feed stream comprising hydrogen and at least one carbon-containing gas, comprising feeding the feed stream, at an inlet pressure greater than atmospheric pressure and a temperature greater than 200&#xb0; C., to a hydrogen separation membrane system comprising a membrane that is selectively permeable to hydrogen, and producing a hydrogen-rich permeate product stream on the permeate side of the membrane and a carbon dioxide-rich product raffinate stream on the raffinate side of the membrane. A method for separating a hydrogen-rich product stream from a feed stream comprising hydrogen and at least one carbon-containing gas, comprising feeding the feed stream, at an inlet pressure greater than atmospheric pressure and a temperature greater than 200&#xb0; C., to an integrated water gas shift/hydrogen separation membrane system wherein the hydrogen separation membrane system comprises a membrane that is selectively permeable to hydrogen, and producing a hydrogen-rich permeate product stream on the permeate side of the membrane and a carbon dioxide-rich product raffinate stream on the raffinate side of the membrane. A method for pretreating a membrane, comprising: heating the membrane to a desired operating temperature and desired feed pressure in a flow of inert gas for a sufficient time to cause the membrane to mechanically deform; decreasing the feed pressure to approximately ambient pressure; and optionally, flowing an oxidizing agent across the membrane before, during, or after deformation of the membrane. A method of supporting a hydrogen separation membrane system comprising selecting a hydrogen separation membrane system comprising one or more catalyst outer layers deposited on a hydrogen transport membrane layer and sealing the hydrogen separation membrane system to a porous support.

Hydrogen separation process

A mechanical apparatus for training is disclosed that reduces the flow of r or oxygen in an oxygen breathing apparatus (OBA) to simulate the effects of an empty oxygen canister. A timer mechanism is coupled to a butterfly valve in the air passageway of the OBA. After a preselected period of time that corresponds to the alarm setting on an operational OBA that signifies a low-oxygen status, the timer mechanism begins to wind the valve into its closed position.

Timed oxygen breathing apparatus trainer

A recoil simulator is disclosed in which one end of a flexible cable is ached to a weapon and the other end to a system comprising a rotating shaft and a clutch. As the trigger of the weapon is pulled a signal is produced which activates the clutch. The clutch creates a sudden pull on the end of the flexible cable simulating recoil.

A resistance tube type smoke generator utilizes a plurality of tube secti, each having a distinct cross-sectional area and electrical resistivity to provide both storage and vaporization via prolonged differential heating of a smoke producing agent. Thermal control may be exercised by sensing change in resistivity of the entire tube or by thermostatic sensors attached to the tubing sections.

Portable smoke generator

A training device simulating a personal breathing apparatus utilizes high pressure air canisters mounted within the breathing bags of a modified operational breathing apparatus. Air is supplied to the trainee through a plurality of regulators and valves via an air passage opened by a mechanical actuation linkage, which simulates the actual actuation device and technique.

Simulated oxygen breathing apparatus

An articulated light guide having internal mirrors and rotatable joints, vides a transmission path to a helmet mounted projector wherefrom light is transmitted onto a retroreflective screen to produce images utilized in simulation training. Located at the screen are photodiodes which detect the orientation of said images with respect to a reference and provide alignment signals to a servo-controlled image rotation device.

Articulated light guide

A linear motion and pop-up target training system is disclosed for training a marksman to fire a simulated weapon. Located upon the terrain surface of a modelboard are six pop-up targets and three bi-directional linear motion targets, each of which emits, when activated by a first microprocessor computer, a pulsed beam of infrared light. Mounted upon the weapon is a sensor which will sense the pulsed beam of infrared light emitted by the activated target. The sensor then supplied to a rifle electronics circuit an analog signal proportional to the amount of light received by the sensor, and the rifle electronics circuit converts the analog signal to a digital logic signal to be supplied to a second microprocessor computer. The second microprocessor computer then processes the digital logic signal in accordance with a predetermined computer program so as to determine whether the marksman has scored a hit, a miss, or a near miss upon the activated target.

Linear motion and pop-up target training system

A recoil force and weight loss simulator is disclosed which generates vars predetermined forces that may be imparted to training weapons, and other devices so as to give them realistic operational characteristics which they otherwise would not have. The recoil force and weight loss simulator includes first force generating means adapted to move a weapons support stand and, thus, an imitation weapon effectively mounted on the weapons support stand in a rearward direction when activated, and second force generating means adapted to release a weight, when activated, from a predetermined position above a terrain surface such that the weight will fall freely to the terrain surface. Actuating means activates the first and second force generating means whenever a marksman triggers the trigger mechanism of the imitation weapon such that the marksman will experience a recoil force and weight loss upon firing the weapon.

A filter replaces the oxygen canister of an oxygen breathing apparatus and the air flow path is modified to provide a realistic simulation for training personnel in the use of closed circuit breathing units.

A surface profile follower and indicator system is disclosed which pneumaally senses and follows the gradients occurring in the surface of a modelboard by means of a pneumatic probe and negative feedback control sub-system which maintains said pneumatic probe at a predetermined distance from the modelboard surface being sensed at any given instant, as the entire profile follower system is moved in such manner as to effect a desired traverse thereof by any suitable carrier vehicle. A probe position pick-off is effectively connected to the aforesaid negative feedback control subsystem and supplies an analog signal to an appropriate readout which, in turn, indicates the position of said pneumatic probe with respect to a predetermined datum, thereby effectively indicating the surface irregularities of the aforesaid modelboard.
