A system for reducing inrush current to an electronic component, the system including: a power supply, the power supply providing power at multiple non-zero voltages; and the electronic component; wherein, when the electronic component is connected to the power supply, the power supply provides a first non-zero voltage to the electronic component and, in response to a signal from the electronic component, provides a second voltage, the second voltage being higher than the first voltage, to the electronic component.

Reducing power consumption of an electrical device is provided. The electrical device includes a first and a second module. The first and second modules include a first and a second memory, and a first and second system on chip (SoC) respectively. The first and second SoCs include a first and a second micro-processor respectively. A PCI-e bus connects the modules. The second module enters a sleep mode state that includes a first and a second sleep mode. The second module transitions between the first and second sleep modes while in the sleep mode state. The second SoC reduces a power state of the second module during the first sleep mode, and powers off the second SoC during the second sleep mode.

In one example, an apparatus includes a first switch array including a first plurality of switches. A first resistor array includes a first plurality of resistor pairs, where each resistor pair in the first plurality of resistors is coupled to one switch of the first plurality of switches. The apparatus also includes a second switch array including a second plurality of switches. A second resistor array includes a second plurality of resistor pairs, where each resistor pair in the second plurality of resistors is coupled to one switch of the second plurality of switches. The apparatus further includes a plurality of output nodes configured to transmit an analog voltage, where each output node of the plurality of output nodes is connected to one resistor pair of the first resistor array and one resistor pair of the second resistor array.

A printer tray printed circuit assembly may include a board, a processing unit supported by the board, an output connector connected to the processing unit and supported by the board and an input connector supported by the board. The input connector is connectable to an interconnect to connect the first printer tray printed circuit assembly to a second printer tray printed circuit assembly. Signal altering circuitry carried by the board automatically alters an output signal of the output connector in response to the input connector being connected to the interconnect. The altered output signal indicates a configuration of a printer tray configuration.

A system comprises host logic and a programmable motor drive coupled to the host logic and configured to drive a motor. The programmable motor drive comprises a plurality of H-bridge circuits and the programmable motor drive is programmable to cause any two or more H-bridge circuits to be operated in parallel.

An apparatus in an example comprises an integrated circuit and one or more resistors. The integrated circuit comprises an internal current source and an external interface pin. The one or more resistors arc external to the integrated circuit and coupled with the external interface pin of the integrated circuit. Application of current from the internal current source of the integrated circuit to the one or more resistors through the external interface pin serves to generate a voltage that is employed to identify the integrated circuit.

System and method for powering on after verifying proper operation of a charge pump and voltage regulator

In an implementation of a configurable H-bridge circuit, a high switch is connected to a voltage source and a low switch is connected to ground. The configurable H-bridge circuit includes a first configuration as a motor drive circuit in which the high switch and the low switch are connected together and coupled to drive a motor. The configurable H-bridge circuit also includes a second configuration in which the high switch and the low switch are each configured as a discrete switch that can be coupled as a component switch.

A motor control device having memory for storing data indicative of a control mode and a pulse width modulation (PWM) value and logic that applies the pulse width modulation value to a voltage provided to a motor if the data indicative of the control mode indicates voltage mode. The logic further controls the voltage applied to the motor based upon a motor set point value representative of the data indicative of the pulse width modulation value when the data indicative of the control mode indicates current mode.

A scanning mechanism of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed that includes light-emitting units, an integrating detector, and pulse-width modulated (PWM) drivers. Each light-emitting unit can emit colored light corresponding to a color of a color space. The integrating detector can detect the colored light emitted by the light-emitting units as reflected off a surface by integrating the colored light detected over a period of time. Each PWM driver can turn on a corresponding light-emitting unit at a duty cycle.

An apparatus has a first H-bridge having a first motor contact on a shared first side and a second motor contact on a second side. The apparatus also has a half H-bridge having a third motor contact on a third side, wherein the shared first side of the first H-bridge and the third side of the half H-bridge may be operated as a second H-bridge. Another apparatus has a first H-bridge having a first motor contact on a shared first side and a second motor contact on a second side. The other apparatus also has a switch coupled to a third motor contact, wherein the shared first side of the first H-bridge and the switch may be operated as a partial H-bridge. A method of operating an alternate H-bridge and a method of flexibly using an H-bridge circuit on an ASIC are also provided.

H-bridge apparatus and method

A pen controller in a thermal printer generates a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal based on a reference voltage. The PWM signal is passed through a filter, resulting in a first voltage that varies with the duty cycle of the PWM signal. Additionally, a temperature sensing resistor on a pen of the printer generates a second voltage that varies with the temperature of the pen. A comparator is used to compare the first and second voltages to determine when the pen is at a proper temperature for printing. As the actual reference voltage in a printer may vary from its intended value due to variations in the fabrication process used to create the components of the printer, the printer is calibrated to account for such variations. The printer is calibrated by the pen controller changing the duty cycle of the PWM signal (thereby changing the first voltage) while the second voltage remains relatively constant. The comparator compares the first and second voltages and identifies when the duty cycle results in a first voltage that matches the second voltage. The pen controller can read, via an analog to digital converter channel, the value of the second voltage. Based on both the value of the second voltage (at the point where it which matches the first voltage), and the duty cycle at that point, the pen controller can calculate the actual reference voltage.

Method and apparatus for pen temperature control in a thermal printer

A variable rate defibrillator charging circuit includes a power transformer that accepts an internal battery output and the output from an AC-to-DC converter on separate primary windings. The secondary winding of the transformer is coupled through a rectifier to a storage capacitor. The transformer operates in a fly-back mode whereby energy is discharged into the storage capacitor when the power supplies discontinue charging the transformer. After energy in the transformer is discharged into the storage capacitor, the power supplies are reactivated, recharging the transformer. The separate primary windings of the transformer provide a fast, reliable, low cost means for charging the storage capacitor with multiple power supplies. The AC power source feeding the AC-to-DC converter is detachable allowing the defibrillator to be operated remotely whereby the storage capacitor is charged solely from the internal battery. The charging circuit monitors the output voltage levels of both the battery and the AC-to-DC converter and enables or disables the power supplies in accordance to their ability to charge the storage capacitor within a predetermined amount of time. The energy in the storage capacitor, which is eventually discharged into a patient, is monitored to prevent overcharging.
