A method includes receiving, at a data hub onboard an asset, a new configuration file, a service program, and a software update of a software application of the asset from a remote location. The data hub includes a current configuration file that indicates a current configuration state of the software application. The new configuration file indicates an updated configuration state of the software application with the software update. The service program includes work instructions for applying the updated configuration state to the software application. The method includes displaying the current configuration file and the new configuration file onboard the asset using the data hub. The method also includes updating the software application with the updated configuration state according to the work instructions of the service program using the data hub.

Communication methods and systems wirelessly communicate onboard messages between communication devices onboard the same vehicle. The communication devices can wirelessly communicate with other communication devices onboard other vehicles in a vehicle system for remote control of the vehicles. Receipt of the onboard messages at the communication devices is determined, and operative states of the communication devices are determined based at least in part on the receipt of the onboard messages at the communication devices. Determining these operative states in this manner can allow for an operator to identify communication faults with the communication devices prior to departing the vehicle.

System and method for testing communication in a vehicle system

A system and method for remotely providing expert assistance receive identification information from a mobile device that is representative of a component and communicate the identification information to remotely located expert personnel. The system and method also receive an expert-identified work scope that includes guidance information for display on the mobile device to guide the operator through diagnosing, repairing, testing, and/or replacing the component. The system and method also store the expert-identified work scope and the identification information such that the expert-identified work scope is associated with the identification information. The system and method compare subsequently received identification information with the stored identification information and automatically select and communicate the expert-identified work scope based on comparing the subsequently received identification information with the stored identification information.

Expert collaboration system and method

A system may include an imaging device configured to acquire at least one image of a vehicle that emits exhaust, and an emissions test unit configured to receive the image(s) of the vehicle. The emissions test unit may include at least one processor configured to detect exhaust data from the image(s) and determine a vehicle emissions test result through an analysis of the exhaust data.

A system and method for remotely supporting users includes receiving identification information of a potential problem with a remotely located equipment from a user and responding to receiving the identification information by providing a recommended work scope to the user. The recommended work scope includes a recommended series of actions to perform to at least one of repair or replace a component subsystem and an instructional representation for display on a mobile device. The first instructional representation both illustrates the series of actions to perform and includes at least one annotation to represent an alert to the user that is related to the action being illustrated. The first instructional representation includes images, videos, and/or a combination thereof that are displayed on the mobile device to guide the user through the recommended work scope.
