The present disclosure relates to an impact resistant, multipolar power cable () comprising, a plurality of cores (), each core () comprising at least one conductive element () and an electrical insulating layer () in a position radially external to the at least one conductive element (). The cores () are stranded together so as to form an assembled element providing a plurality of interstitial zones (). An expanded polymeric filler () fills the interstitial zones () between the plurality of cores (). An expanded impact resistant layer () is in a position radially external to the expanded polymeric filler () and comprises a polymer that differs from the expanded polymeric filler ().

Lightweight and flexible impact resistant power cable and process for producing it

A flexible electrical cable that is resistant to external chemical agents includes a sheathing assembly and a core assembly. From interior to exterior, the core assembly has at least two conductors and a two-part filler material with an inner portion and an outer portion. The inner portion has discrete, non-continuous elements, and the outer portion is a solid, continuous material surrounding the inner portion and at least partially embedding the at least two conductors. The outer portion has a circular cross-section. The sheathing assembly has a foamed polymeric material formed around and shaped by the outer portion of the filler material, a metal tape positioned around and shaped by the foamed polymeric material, a polymeric coating surrounding the metal tape, and an outer sheath.

Flexible electrical cable with resistance to external chemical agents

An electric power cable contains a core and a jacket forming the exterior of the cable. The jacket is formed by extruding a first layer and a second layer over a plurality of concentric neutral elements, substantially encapsulating these elements. At least the first layer is an expanded polymeric material, by having its density reduced through the use of a foaming agent during extrusion. The second layer, which may also be expanded, is extruded around the first layer. The expanded polymeric material makes stripping the jacket easier, minimizes indentations in the cable's insulation layers, lightens the cable, and increases the cable's flexibility.

Cable having expanded, strippable jacket

A cable comprises at least two cores stranded together, an expanded inner jacket layer, a substantially circular metallic armor partially contacting the inner jacket to form unfilled interstices outside the inner jacket, and a polymeric outer jacket. The expanded inner jacket substantially takes the shape of the periphery of the stranded cores, providing a non-circular cross section for the expanded inner jacket. A method of producing a cable comprises providing at least two cores, expanding a polymeric material, extruding the expanded polymeric material around the cores, and allowing the expanded polymeric material to collapse onto the cores. A substantially circular metallic armor is applied, resulting in a plurality of unfilled voids between the inner jacket and the metallic armor. An outer jacket is extruded on the metallic armor.
