An apparatus includes a processor and a machine-readable medium having program code executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to obtain a scan result based on a core sample, generate a set of contours of the scan result, and generate a set of object associations, wherein the set of object associations includes a first object association that is associated with a first contour from the set of contours and a second contour from the set of contours. The program code also generates a set of contour connections, wherein the set of contour connections includes a first contour connection that is based on the first object association. The program code also generates a reconstructed core having a three-dimensional space based on the set of contour connections, wherein the three-dimensional space includes a volume greater than the core sample.

A coil antenna may be disposed over the gap sub. The method may further comprise placing the electromagnetic induction tool into a wellbore and operating the coil antenna.

Use of gap subs behind a coil antenna in electromagnetic induction tools

A method and system for electromagnetic well ranging. The method may comprise receiving signals from one or more receiver coils at different depths in a second wellbore, applying a band-stop filter to the received signals to provide filtered signals, and processing the filtered signals to determine a position of the first wellbore with respect to the second wellbore. An electromagnetic ranging system may comprise a transmitter coil disposed in a second wellbore, a receiver coil disposed in the second wellbore, an information handling system coupled to the transmitter coil and the receiver. The information handling system may be configured to receive signals from one or more receiver coils at different depths in the second wellbore, apply a band-stop filter in a frequency domain to provide filtered signals, and process the filtered signals to determine a position of the first wellbore with respect to the second wellbore.

Direct coupling mitigation for coil-based electromagnetic ranging

A method and system for an electromagnetic sensor. A method may comprise introducing an electromagnetic induction tool into a wellbore. The electromagnetic induction tool may comprise an insulated section and an electromagnetic device. The method may further comprise performing a first measurement with the electromagnetic induction tool; adjusting an impedance parameter of the insulated section; performing a second measurement with the electromagnetic induction tool; including the first measurement and the second measurement in an inversion process, wherein the inversion process calculates the downhole electromagnetic parameters; and adjusting at least one operational parameter of a well operation based at least in part on the downhole electromagnetic parameters. An electromagnetic sensor system may comprise a conductive body, an electromagnetic device, and a microcontroller configured to adjust an impedance parameter of the insulated section.
