A fuser roll including a hollow cylinder having a relatively thin wall, the cylinder being a plastic composition reinforced with a conductive fiber filler, the plastic composition having a resistivity between 0.5 and 0.05 ohm.cm, the cylinder having an outside and an inside surface and enclosing ambient air, a back up roll disposed in an engaging relationship with the outside surface of the hollow cylinder defining said nip, a heating element disposed within said relatively thin wall, the heating element being said conductive fiber filler, the conductive fiber filler also providing the mechanical reinforcement of the hollow cylinder, and an additive, the additive being part of the plastic composition, the additive providing a release layer on the outside surface of the cylinder, the additive being a fluorocarbon at approximately 0.25 percent by weight.

Composite instant on fuser element

An instant-on fuser having a cylindrical, relatively thin fiber wound cylinder supporting a resistance wire, heating foil, or printed circuit secured on the outside surface of the cylinder or embedded to the surface of the cylinder. The interior of the cylindrical tube is filled with air, and the wire, heating foil or printed circuit is connected to electrical leads extending through caps on the ends of the cylindrical support. The fuser is fabricated from the cylinder outward to the final step of applying a release agent on the outer surface.

Filament wound foil fusing system

An electrophoretic imaging process wherein a suspension of particles in a carrier liquid are placed between a photoconductive electrode and a second electrode. With an electrical field applied between the photoconductive electrode and the second electrode the photoconductor is exposed to imagewise radiation which causes particles on the surface of the photoconductive electrode to be driven away in image configuration by charge exchange with the photoconductive electrode. The migrating particles form a negative image on the second electrode leaving a positive image behind on the photoconductive electrode.
