An apparatus comprising: a processor for determining if a laser is operating in a single-mode state and for determining the degree to which one of one or more tunable parameters for the laser must be adjusted so that laser operates in a single-mode state if not operating in a single-mode state, wherein the one or more tunable parameters include the following parameters: the laser current and the wavelength of the output light. The apparatus may include a laser and/or a holographic storage medium. Also provided is a method for determining if a laser is operating in a single-mode state and for determining the degree to which one of one or more tunable parameters for the laser must be adjusted so that laser operates in a single-mode state if not operating in a single-mode state.

Method for finding and tracking single-mode operation point of external cavity diode lasers

A method for adjusting at least one alignment control axis of a holographic data storage system or device to or towards a sufficiently optimal recovery position for recovery of a hologram based on a derived feedback error signal and/or a derived feed-forward signal. For the next hologram in the sequence, the derived feedback error signal estimates the direction and magnitude of misalignment of the at least one alignment control axis for one or more previously recovered holograms based on alignment-indicating data. The derived feed-forward signal estimates an optimal alignment value for the at least one alignment control axis for one or more holograms based on recording and recovery operating condition data for the holograms. An iterative alignment procedure may also be used to derive a feedback error signal for one hologram.

External cavity laser (ECL) systems and methods for measuring the wavelength of the ECL by using a portion of the positional light received by the position sensitive detector (PSD) to determine the position of a wavelength tuning element (such as a diffraction grating or an etalon), for determining the longitudinal laser mode or power output of the laser from a portion of the laser light received by a beam-shearing mode sensor, and by using a non-output beam(s) from a transmissive diffraction grating in the ECL to monitor the external cavity laser.

A goods dispenser adapted particularly for the dispensing of substantially flat flexible goods such as anti-static dryer sheets, napkins, thin protective gloves and the like that also provides for convenient disposal of used goods and other trash. The dispenser comprises a holding means for the goods and a support means for supporting a trash receptacle. In a preferred embodiment, the trash receptacle is a plastic shopping bag and the support means is one or more hooks for engaging the handles of the plastic shopping bag.

A container system is supported by one or more laundry appliances. The container may have an open top with a cover provided, or slide out of a container housing. The container system further includes mounting structure between the container or container housing and the appliance or appliances to support the container or container housing in side by side relationship with one appliance or between two appliances, so that the cover closing the container or the top of the container housing is substantially flush with the top work surface of the adjacent appliance or appliances, effectively forming a continuous work surface.

The LAUNDRY AREA ORGANIZER includes a bin having a front, a back, a bottom, and first and second side walls, the first side wall of the bin being juxtaposed to and abutted with a side wall of one of the clothes washer and dryer and the second side wall of the bin being juxtaposed to and abutted with a side wall of the other of the clothes washer and dryer so that the bin is disposed between and laterally supported by the clothes washer and dryer. The LAUNDRY AREA ORGANIZER also includes a cover for the bin, the cover having a top surface, the cover being manipulable to an open position for providing access to the interior of the bin and, alternatively, to a closed position for precluding access to the interior of the bin, the top surface of the cover is at about the same height as the top surfaces of the clothes washer and dryer so that the top surfaces of the cover and the clothes washer and dryer lie approximately in a plane, to provide a continuous work surface.

The present invention provides a disposable electrosurgical device which is useful in performing laparoscopic surgical procedures. This electrosurgical device has suction and irrigation capabilities in which the application of electrosurgical current, the application of suction, and the transmission of irrigation fluid, to a surgical site, can be conveniently regulated through control mechanisms contained within a surgical handpiece. The mechanisms which regulate the electrosurgical current, the suction, and the irrigation can be conveniently actuated independently with one hand at a single location on the surgical handpiece. A disposable rotatable combined electrosurgical-suction-irrigation probe releasably attaches to the distal end of the surgical handpiece. This probe is an electrically conductive fluid conduit which forms an electrical and fluid connection to the surgical handpiece. It provides an electrical and fluid passageway to an electrocauterizing tip which applies the therapeutic electrosurgical current.
