A handle assembly for a manual tool such as a shovel includes an elongate, tubular handle member with a hollow connecting end portion and a screw hole formed in one side. The assembly includes an elongate, hollow connecting member with an exterior surface sized to fit snugly inside the hollow connecting end. A second screw hole is formed in the side of this primary section. The connecting member has an aperture formed in an outer end section. A screw is used to detachably connect the connecting member and the handle member. Ridges extending along opposite sides of the aperture engage flexible connecting members formed in an inner end of a socket of the tool member in order to connect the handle assembly thereto. There is also disclosed a metal connecting device which is elongate and substantially channel-shaped. Integral tabs mount this metal member in the elongate socket of the main tool section. A resilient catch on this connecting device projects inwardly between its two side portions and this catch engages a head of the screw in order to secure the handle assembly to the main tool section.

A kit for assembling a tool and the resulting tool which includes a shaft member, a blade member and a locking clip member securing the shaft member to the blade member. The shaft has an orifice extending into its periphery toward a lower end thereof. The blade member has an aperture for receiving the lower end of the shaft member. The blade member has a first orifice extending therethrough and a second orifice which registers with the orifice in the shaft member when the shaft member is inserted fully into the blade member. The locking clip member is non-resiliently deformable and has a first end which may be bent to lodge the clip in the first orifice of the blade member. The locking clip member has a second end, opposite the first end, for insertion through the orifice of the shaft member and the second orifice of the blade member to lock the blade member to the shaft member. A two-component tool handle, comprised of a yoke member having yoke arms and a grip member, constructed so as to allow the grip member to be lockingly secured to the yoke arms upon simple rotation of the grip member when inserted in yoke arms, to thereby lock the yoke arms together and thereby form a D-shaped tool handle. Detent means, preferably in the form of a protruding member on the grip member, and a recessed portion on the yoke arm members, or vice versa, are provided, which snap into engagement upon the grip member being rotated within the yoke arms from a first position to the third (locked) position.

A rotary sprinkler is provided having a stationary base portion, with a water inlet for attachment to a conventional garden hose, and a vertically oriented water outlet having a body portion rotatably secured thereto. A plurality of generally cylindrical arms extend radially from the body portion, with each arm having a nozzle unit disposed on the distal end thereof. Each nozzle unit includes a plurality of nozzles formed therein, and may be selectively positioned longitudinally so as to expose a different number of such nozzles to the water supply. The nozzle unit may be rotated relative to its respective arm, so that the water discharged through the nozzles operates to drive the body/arm assembly about the base. The rotational velocity of the body/arm assembly may be controlled by the user of the sprinkler by adjusting the rotational orientation of the plurality of nozzle units.

An adjustable shaft for an implement which can be increased or decreased in length and can be oriented in a number of ways which change the alignment of the handle end of the implement relative to the operating end of the implement is disclosed. The adjustable shaft comprises a first shaft and a second shaft of lesser diameter. The first shaft is hollow and the second shaft is slidably receivable therein. A mechanism for aligning the second shaft relative to the first shaft is attached to one end of the first shaft. The aligning mechanism includes a plurality of projections which extend away from the first shaft when the alignment mechanism is connected thereon. The projections are adapted to engage the second shaft. A collar member, which is slidable along the second shaft, engages with the projections of the alignment mechanism and presses them against the second shaft so that they frictionally engage the same. The length of the shaft may be adjusted by simply altering the length of the second shaft which is received inside the first shaft. The second shaft and the alignment mechanism are configured to interlock with each other so that rotational movement of the second shaft with respect to the first shaft is substantially prevented.
