A rotary abrasive machining tool () is shown. The tool comprises a hub () having plurality of axially-oriented radial slots in the outer circumference thereof, and plurality of abrasive segments each of which is located in a respective slot in the hub and which form an abrading surface (). The abrasive segments comprise a tab for location in a slot in the hub, and an abrading edge defining a plurality of abrasive elements.

Abrasive machining

A cutting tool comprises a tool body having a first end and a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending between the first end and the second end. The first end comprises two or more cutting portions, with each of the cutting portions comprising a cutting edge and a flank surface. Each cutting edge extends radially outwardly from a centre region of the first end to a perimetral edge of the first end, with the cutting edge being angled relative to the longitudinal axis. Each flank surface extends circumferentially from the cutting edge. Each of at least two of the two or more flank surfaces comprises an abrasive portion extending over at least a part of the respective flank surface and each abrasive portion comprises a plurality of abrasive features.

Cutting tool

A roller assembly for a rotary dresser comprise a plurality of axial segments which may be in the form of discs, each disc provided with an abrasive, radially outer surface. The discs are secured in axial alignment, each in a preconfigured rotational orientation. The disc assembly has a centrally arranged aperture for receiving a rotor shaft. The abrasive surface of the assembly can be accurately presented as an array of uniformly shaped abrasive units in a predefined pattern.

Abrading tool for a rotary dresser

An abrasive element comprises a body of crystalline abrasive material. The body has an array of cutting elements formed of crystalline abrasive material which projects from a surface of the body. The shape, size and form of the projections is controlled in the production process. The body may be a natural or synthetic crystal. The body may be a film formed by deposition. The body may be diamond or cubic boron nitride. The body may be monocrystalline or polycrystalline. The projections may be aligned along a crystallographic plane or planes.
