A steel cord comprises more than one steel filament (). At least some of the steel filaments have a zinc iron alloy layer () partially covered with a zinc cover (). The zinc cover is only present in valleys formed in the zinc-iron alloy layer. The processability and adhesion level in rubber products of the steel cord are increased.

A cable () is provided comprising a steel cord () and a polymer material (). The steel cord () has a diameter less than 2.5 mm, and is coated with the polymer material (). The cable () has a permanent elongation of less than 0.05% at a permanent force of 50 N, after being subjected to a force of 450 N. Further, a window elevator system () comprising such a cable () is provided.

A steel cord for the reinforcement of thermoplastic elastomers, the steel cord including more than one strand, each strand including two or more steel filaments, at least some of said the steel filaments being provided with a zinc coating. The zinc coating has a thickness lower than two micrometer and an alloy layer zinc-steel is present between the zinc coating and the steel.
