In one aspect, a method includes receiving a query, identifying search results in response to the query, grouping the search results into one or more clusters, identifying similarities across the one or more clusters, determining a related topic associated with the query based on the similarities of the one or more clusters, determining a categories associated with the query, identifying supplemental information based on the related topic and the category, and providing the search results and the supplemental information for display in response to the query.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for constraining individual meeting times of a task to a specified total duration of aggregated meeting times. In an embodiment of the invention, a method of constraining individual meeting times of a task to a specified total duration of aggregated meeting times is provided. The method includes selecting an event amongst a plurality of events associated with a single task in a C&S system executing in memory of a host server. The method further includes adjusting a duration of time for the selected event. The method yet further includes determining whether or not a sum total of all durations of time for the events associated with the single task exceeds a time constraint for the single task. Thereafter, in response to determining the sum total of all durations of time for the events associated with the single task to have exceeded the time constraint for the single task, a compensatory adjustment of time can be apportioned to remaining ones of the events associated with the single task.

In one embodiment of the invention, a method for lifecycle model instance objectification of non-activity objects in an activity thread can be provided. The method can include rendering an activity thread within an activity map for an activity-centric collaborative tool, creating an instance of a lifecycle model, and objectifying a non-activity object in the activity thread with the lifecycle model instance. Additionally, a status decorator can be displayed for the lifecycle model instance in association with the non-activity object in the activity map.

The disclosure includes a system and method configured for resharing content items. The system includes a processor and memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the system to: receive one or more social-content items that contain one or more first links; determine whether the one or more social-content items are related to a news-story cluster (including one or more news-story items) based on the one or more first links, the news-story cluster including one or more second links; responsive to determining that the one or more social-content items are related to the news-story cluster, associate the one or more social-content items with the news-story cluster; rank the one or more social-content items; and generate a resharing content item including the one or more ranked social-content items.

A method for clustering content is disclosed. The method reduces the likelihood that unrelated content is included in a cluster, allows users to more discover content and content is automatically curated. A collection of posts is associated with a common tag. A seed post is identified from the collection of posts. The collection of posts is grouped into a first cluster of posts based on the seed post and a first attribute. The collection of posts is grouped into a second cluster of posts based on the seed post and a second attribute. A preferred view is determined from at least one or more of: the first cluster and the second cluster. The preferred view is provided for display. Unrelated content includes topically unrelated posts, posts by users unrelated to a seed user, posts by users unrelated to the seed post in an activity graph.

The disclosure includes a system and method for providing an association recommendation to a user. The system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions that when executed cause the system to: receive a request to disassociate with a first topic from a first user; identify one or more labels and one or more refined topics associated with the first topic; determine a second user that shares one or more second topics in common with the first user; retrieve social graph data describing a social graph associated with the second user; and determine, based on the social graph data associated with the second user, an association recommendation relevant to the first user from the one or more labels and the one or more refined topics.

Providing association recommendations to users

Methods are presented for managing shareable content articles in a social network. One of the methods includes receiving a plurality of articles from a publisher for access to selected users in the social network. In one example, the received articles are identified as having premium content. Each of the received articles is assigned a sharing parameter that includes a sharing threshold. The method further includes receiving a request from a first user, who is identified from the selected users of the social network, to share an article identified from the plurality of received articles with a second user in the social network, and providing the second user with access to the article when the sharing threshold is satisfied. The article is presented to the second user with supplemental content.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for shape based scheduling of events for a task in a calendaring and scheduling (C&S) system. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for shape based scheduling of events for a task in a C&S system is provided. The method includes defining a shape for a range of days in a calendar view of a C&S system executing in memory of a host computer. The method further includes superimposing the shape over the range of days in the calendar view. The method yet further includes determining a block of time for each of the days in the range upon which a portion of the shape has been superimposed. Finally, the method includes scheduling at least one event for each block of time determined for each of the days in the range upon which a portion of the shape has been superimposed.

A system for providing a local computer user with detailed activity information regarding remote users, in order to assist the local user in determining whether to initiate a communication session with a remote user. The system provides activity information that may describe the number of instant messaging sessions one or more remote users are currently involved in, the identities of participants in those sessions, activity levels, time period information, and other information. The system further provides detailed activity information describing recent instant messaging sessions of one or more remote users.

The present invention facilitates collaboration on electronic messages. Methods are provided in which an electronic message is stored and presented to users. A user is allowed to perform an action on the electronic message and the action is recorded. Additionally, the record is associated with the electronic message. The users are notified of the action.

A method is provided for automatically using address information from a selected message to create a new message that is unrelated to the selected message in response to a user action, such as selecting one of a plurality of improved reply options. These improved reply options may include a 'New Message To' command and a 'New Message To All' command that do not establish a relationship between the reply message and the selected message that could be exploited by, for example, a threading service. In particular, these commands populate address fields of the new message with values from address fields of the selected message without populating any other fields that are used to identify relationships among messages.
