An apparatus, method, and system disclosed herein are directed to a user equipment (UE) capable of dynamically selecting a telecommunication network for running an application using edge-computing capability of the telecommunication network. A subscriber identity module (SIM), such as an eSIM, may be provisioned for a plurality of preferred telecommunication networks of a multi-network mobile edge computing (MEC) system where each network of the plurality of preferred telecommunication networks meets an edge-computing requirement of the application. A workload associated with the application may be distributed among edge-computing nodes of a first network of the plurality of preferred telecommunication networks. Upon detecting a degradation in a service associated with running the application on the first network, running of the application may be switched to a second network of the plurality of preferred telecommunication networks and the workload may be distributed among edge-computing nodes of the second network.

Dynamic cellular network selection for Edge-computing of an application

A cellular network system and method provided herein are directed to generating an area topographic map of a surrounding area of the cellular network system. The cellular network system comprises a transmitter, a receiver, memory, and one or more processors (processors) communicatively coupled to the transmitter, the receiver, and the memory. The memory stores computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the processors, perform certain operations. The transmitter transmits in a target direction a first signal, which is a communication signal intended for a user equipment (UE) and the receiver receives a second signal. The processors determine whether the second signal is a reflected signal associated with the first signal, determine topographic data associated with the surrounding area of the cellular network system in the target direction based at least in part on the second signal, and generate the area topographic map of the surrounding area based on the topographic data.

Environment scanning using a cellular network

A telecommunication system can include routing devices, a bearer-management device, and a policy-management device. The bearer-management device can receive a request from a terminal to create a specialized bearer (SB) for a non-audio, non-video media type. The bearer-management device can determine that the request is associated with an authorized user, and then send a setup message comprising a Quality of Service (QoS) indicator to the policy-management device. The policy-management device can create the SB permitting data exchange between the terminal and a routing device. The SB can have QoS characteristics associated with the QoS indicator. In some examples, the terminal can receive a network address, determine an associated network port, and send a SIP INVITE message indicating the non-audio, non-video media type. The terminal can then exchange data on the network port with a peer network terminal.

Latency-sensitive network-traffic quality of service

A method of performing economic analyses on cellular network including receiving a user selection of network criterion and receiving a user selection of a threshold service level corresponding to the network criterion. The method includes determining a network service projection based on a growth projection and determining an updated network architecture that satisfies the threshold service level. The method includes generating an updated network architecture report indicating changes to an infrastructure of the cellular network to satisfy the threshold service level including a network architecture map of the geographical region with visual representations of the updated network architecture. The updated network architecture includes a base station and a fixed wireless device, and the fixed wireless device is configured to provide network connection to subscriber devices associated with the cellular network.

Systems and methods for maintaining network quality

An emergency determining system configured as part of a cellular or mobile network to receive emergency data from public safety answering points and to evaluate the emergency based at least in part on third party data, network data, and the emergency data. For instance, the emergency determining system may determine a level, a geographic area, and/or a response to the emergency and to broadcast, via the cellular or mobile network, notifications to individual's personal electronic devices within the geographic area to alert the individuals to the emergency and to provide instructions related to an appropriate response by the individual.

System and method for generating localized emergency warnings

Systems, devices, and techniques described herein are directed to improved wireless handovers based on device movement. User equipment (UE) can be wirelessly connected to a network via a serving cell, while handover operations allow the UE to transition a connection from the serving cell to a candidate cell to facilitate mobility and connection continuity. In some cases, the serving cell can be a wide area network and the candidate cell can be a small cell, whereby the small cell utilizes millimeter wavelength communications. In some cases, where a candidate cell can provide a higher quality connection compared to the serving cell, a handover decision can be based at least in part on motion data associated with the UE. For example, if a speed of the UE is above a threshold, the UE or network can be prevented from initiating a handover from the serving cell to the candidate cell.

Wireless handovers based on device movement

A telecommunication network associated with a wireless telecommunication provider can be configured to transmit application data using different quality of service (QoS) specifications. In some configurations, data, other than voice and video data, can be transmitted using VoLTE or ViLTE data streams. According to some examples, network hardware and/or software (e.g., in the core network of a telecommunications network), and/or an application on the UE (smartphone, tablet, etc.) may translate data to be compatible with the VoLTE or ViLTE specifications. The translated data is transmitted from the device to the telecommunications network as a VoLTE or ViLTE packet stream. The converted packets may be identified (e.g., a unique digital signature) so that the corresponding hardware and software in the MSO can identify that a stream of VoLTE or ViLTE packets is to be converted back into the native format of the application before being routed to a destination.

Transmitting application data using different QoS specifications

Systems and methods for improved content streaming and downloading. The system enables content to be transmitted to wireless base stations (WBSs) using unicast on the core network side of a cellular network to avoid incompatibilities associated with network broadcast technologies such as Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS) and Long-Term Evolution Broadcast (LTE-B). At the same time, the system enable content to be broadcast, or transmitted to multiple user equipment (UE) in a single transmission to reduce wireless bandwidth consumption. The system can include a commodity server to receive requests from WBSs, place them in a chronological list based on network latency, and then transmit content to each WBS in a synchronized unicast manner. Each WBS can then transmit the content to a plurality of UEs with minimal buffer required due to the 'pre-synchronization.'

Wireless delivery of broadcast data

Techniques for network scheduling that may provide consistent latency in content delivery are described. For example, the techniques may include receiving, by a scheduler of a carrier network, a consistent latency request associated with an application operating on a user equipment (UE), the consistent latency request including a specified latency value. Based at least in part on the specified latency value, the scheduler of the carrier network may schedule transmission of one or more packets associated with the application operating on the UE to cause the one or more packets to arrive at the UE with an inter-packet delay substantially equal to the specified latency value.

Network latency control

A telecommunication system can include a control device and a network gateway. The control device can determine cache-update instructions by operating trained computational models. The network gateway can receive cache-update instructions from the control device and transmit corresponding items of content to network terminals. In some examples, the network terminals can receive the items of content and store them in respective content caches at the at the network terminals. In some examples, the control device can determine respective content scores for at least two items of content; cluster the at least two items of content based at least in part on usage data associated with the network terminals to determine respective cluster labels for the at least two items of content; and determine the cache-update instructions based at least in part on the content scores, the cluster labels, and network-resource information.

Telecommunications-network content caching

Techniques are described herein for caching content locally at a local network device and serving the cached content via multicast transmission to a user equipment in a multicast single frequency network (SFN) coverage area in which the local network device is located. The local network device receives a request for content from the user equipment in the multicast SFN coverage area. The request includes usage data associated with the user equipment indicating a triggering event. If the content is not cached at the local network device, the local network device identifies a content server to provide the content based at least on the usage data and a broadcast identifier associated with the local network device. The local network device receives the content that is associated with the broadcast identifier of the local network device and stores the content locally. Thereafter, the local network device serves the content via multicast transmission to the user equipment.

Cache and multicast techniques to reduce bandwidth utilization

A computer-implemented method including receiving network architecture data of a network in a geographical region, receiving an input network criteria associated with the network, receiving a threshold service level corresponding to the network criteria, and receiving housing data for the geographical region. The method includes determining a network service projection for the geographical region based on the housing data. Based on the threshold service level and the network service projection, the method includes determining an updated network architecture that satisfies the threshold service level. The method includes generating an updated network architecture report indicating changes to the infrastructure of the network to satisfy the threshold service level.

A telecommunication system can include routing devices, a Quality of Service (QoS) controller, a policy-management device, and a flow-management device. The QoS controller or flow-management device can receive a request from a terminal to create a specialized flow (SF), e.g., for a non-audio, non-video media type. If the request is associated with an authorized user, a setup message can be sent comprising a QoS indicator. The system can create the SF permitting data exchange between the terminal and a routing device. The SF can have QoS characteristics associated with the QoS indicator. In some examples, the terminal can receive network-address information, determine an associated network resource, and send a flow-request message indicating a non-audio, non-video media type. The terminal can then exchange data on the network port with a peer network terminal.

QoS for latency-sensitive network-traffic flows

Systems and methods for improved efficiency in content streaming and downloading. The system enables a first list including a plurality of user equipment (UE) in communication with a wireless base station (WBS) to be identified based on the likelihood that each UE will download a piece of content. The process starts in response to a UE requesting the content from the WBS or some other triggering event. The system can use the content and subscriber history from the plurality of UEs along with machine learning, or some other algorithm, to identify likely candidates. The system can calculate a similarity score, or similar, comparing the requested content to the content history for each of the plurality of UEs. The system can add each UE with a sufficiently high similarity score to a second list. The content can be broadcast to all UEs on the second list in a single broadcast transmission.
