A microgrid with a high voltage direct current (HVDC) source for efficiently and safely distributing power to decentralized loads includes: at least a main HVDC power supply connectable in input to an AC grid and in output to a main DC distribution network and loads system in output, the main HVDC power supply having energy reserve means and a main switch-based fault isolator or main FI, the main DC distribution network and loads system including: a maintrunk bus, and subtrunks buses and/or front end local loads cells connected in parallel to the maintrunk bus, and at each branching of a subtrunk bus and a load or of a subtrunk bus of rank n&#x2212;1 and a subtrunk bus of rank n, a local switch-based fault isolator or local FI, n being an integer comprised in the range [1, N]. A smart main controller including microcontrollers for smart operation is also included.

Safe and resilient energy distribution for a highly efficient microgrid

The present invention is related to a hardware developed for allowing the virtualization of power and therefore bringing change to the data center market. This new concept, unique in the industry, offers the missing link to respond to the multiple and contradictory challenges the industry will be facing in managing power. The concept of a rack mounted power pack sized for average loads, is allowing peak shaving, and microgrid utilization. The combination of renewable power sources and grid connections enables cost savings while increasing the resilience of the overall infrastructure. The so-called 'Power Fusion' operates like a decentralized double conversion UPS with all the advantages of centralized architecture.

Data center with backup power system

A DC-to-AC power converter having a main DC input and a main single-phase AC output, configured to convert and adapt a DC voltage at the main DC input into a sinusoidal AC voltage of a fundamental frequency at the main AC output and to deliver a rated power at the main AC output to a load includes: a single DC-to-DC converter having as input the main DC input and having a DC output and a tank capacitor being connected to the DC output, two low frequency diodes biased so as to be able to pass current from, respectively to, the DC output to, respectively from, the tank capacitor; and, according to a direct path, a bidirectional voltage-type DC-to-AC converter in cascade with the DC-to-DC converter, the bidirectional voltage-type DC-to-AC converter having a DC input-output connected to the DC output and an AC output-input connected to the main AC output.

Inverter with AC forward bridge and improved DC/DC topology

The present invention relates to a single phase, non-insulated, miniaturized DC/AC power inverter having an output power density higher than 3000 W/dm, wherein said power inverter is packaged in a casing made of an external electrically conductive enclosure containing a fan blowing in an axial direction to a side face of the casing and, in a stacked elevation arrangement, successively from a bottom side to a top side, a layer of active filter capacitors, a heatsink, a layer of wideband semiconductors switches connected to a PCB with thermal vias and a layer of active filtering inductors, the fan and the component stacked arrangement being designed so as, in operation, the external temperature of the casing does not overcome 60&#xb0; C. in any point, for an ambient temperature of maximum 30&#xb0; C. under a maximum load of 2 kVA.

High power density inverter (II)

The present invention is related to a method for controlling a high frequency dual bridge DC/DC power converter of nominal frequency (f) and nominal power (P), in a wide range of input voltage and with power overload capacity up to 200%, said method comprising a step of varying, in a range up to the value of &#x3c0; radians, a first phase shift (&#x3c6;) between the voltage of the full bridge and the voltage of the half bridge, while&#x2014;varying the operation frequency (f) simultaneously with the said first phase shift and/or&#x2014;inducing a second phase shift (&#x3c6;) between the voltages of the two half bridges or branches constituting the full bridge, modifying thereby the first phase shift (&#x3c6;) between the voltage of the full bridge and the voltage of the half bridge and/or&#x2014;decreasing the operation frequency (f) towards the LC resonance frequency (f) of the circuit, so as to minimize the switch losses in the DC/DC converter during operation.

Dual bridge DC/DC power converter

The present invention relates to a single phase, non-insulated, miniaturized DC/AC power inverter () having an output power density higher than 3000 W/dm, wherein said first (S_H), second (S_L), third (S_H) and fourth (S_L) switches are made of wide-band semiconductors and preferably of gallium nitride or GaN semiconductors; and wherein said DC/AC power inverter () further comprises: a ripple-compensating active filter comprising a third half-bridge () having a fifth switch (S_H) in series with a sixth switch (S_L), said fifth switch (S_H) being connected at one end to the positive terminal (L+) of the DC input, said sixth switch (S_L) being connected at one end to the negative terminal (L&#x2212;) of the DC input,the other end of the fifth switch (S_H) being connected to the other end of the sixth switch (S_L), defining a third common end, said third common end being connected to a first end of a LC filter, made of at least one inductor (L) and one storage capacitor (C), a second end of the LC filter being connected to the negative terminal (L&#x2212;); modulation control means of said first (S_H), second (S_L), third (S_H), fourth (S_L), fifth (S_H) and sixth (S_L) switches for providing a switch frequency comprised between 20 and 500 kHz and allowing variable phase shifts between any two of said first (), second () and third () half-bridges and allowing dead time modulation of the switches of said half-bridges (), so that to obtain a switching approaching ZVS switching, in particular to obtain switching when current crosses through zero and further to cancel switching losses and so that to allow high peak-to-peak voltage variations in the active filter, while storing corresponding energy in the storage capacitors (C), wherein the Y-capacitors of the common mode noise filter (), are referenced to a shielding being at a reference potential, said shielding being insulated from earth, said Y-capacitors having a value comprised between 100 nF and several &#x3bc;F.

High power density inverter (I)

A DC-to-AC power converter () includes: a current-type DC-to-AC converter () having a first DC input () and a first AC output (), said first DC input () being connected in parallel to said main DC input () and said first AC output () being connected in parallel to said main AC output (); and a controller () for: controlling said bidirectional voltage-type DC-to-AC converter () for delivering at said first AC output-input () a sinusoidal AC voltage of said fundamental frequency f; controlling said current-type DC-to-AC converter () for delivering at said first AC output () a quasi square-type AC current of said fundamental frequency ID and in phase with said sinusoidal AC voltage; imposing that at least 70% of said rated current is provided by said current-type DC-to-AC converter ().

DC-to-AC power converter with high efficiency

A power backup processor and a method of operating the power backup processor suitable for a single-phase AC power supply and with a higher efficiency, at least when the critical load is fed with the single-phase AC power supply, while having a high availability and quality of voltage supply.
