A control system and methods for a digital circuit breaker are provided. The system comprises a digital circuit breaker, an electric trace heater electrically connected to the digital circuit breaker, a temperature sensor, and a controller device in communication with the digital circuit breaker and the electric trace heater. The controller device includes a processor in communication with the temperature sensor, and the processor is configured to receive a temperature value from the temperature sensor, construct a time-current curve for the digital circuit breaker based on the temperature value, and transmit data representative of the time-current curve to the digital circuit breaker.

Systems and methods for controlling digital circuit breakers

The splice includes a primary shim configured to be shrunk over part of an insulation layer of a first portion of the heating cable, a secondary shim configured to be shrunk part of the insulation layer of a second portion of the heating cable, a connector configured to electrically couple the first portion of the heating cable and the second portion of the heating cable, and an outer cold shrink tube configured to be shrunk over the primary shim, the secondary shim, and the connector.

In addition, a high emissivity coating may be formed on the first layer.

Mineral insulated cable having reduced sheath temperature

A skin effect heating system for long pipelines includes a heater cable disposed in a ferromagnetic or other conductive heat tube. A semiconductive jacket contacts the inner surface of the heat tube, where the charge density of the return current carried by the heat tube is at its highest. The semiconductive jacket material has a resistivity that is sufficiently low to reduce or eliminate arcing events such as corona discharge by allowing accumulated charge on the heat tube to dissipate. The resistivity is also high enough to prevent the return current from flowing into or through the semiconductive outer layer, so that heat production capacity of the system is maximized.

Shielded fluoropolymer wire for high temperature skin effect trace heating

A skin effect heating system for long pipelines includes a heater cable disposed in a ferromagnetic or other conductive heat tube, the heater cable and heat tube cooperating to produce heat that is applied to the carrier pipe. The heater cable includes a conductor surrounded by an insulating layer, and then a semiconductive outer layer or 'jacket.' The semiconductive jacket contacts the inner surface of the heat tube, where the charge density of the return current carried by the heat tube is at its highest. The semiconductive jacket material has a resistivity that is sufficiently low to reduce or eliminate arcing events such as corona discharge by allowing accumulated charge on the heat tube to dissipate. A method and apparatus for generating electromagnetic fields for healing. A device preferably includes a microcontroller and associated memory, a wire coil in electrical communication with a driving circuit that is controlled by the microcontroller in accordance with a program stored in the associated memory, wherein the driving circuit is effective to produce a pulsed DC output having a frequency in the range of about 0-45 Hz, more preferably in the range of 0.5-14.1 Hz and most preferably around 9.6 Hz. A user interface is provided for selecting one of a plurality of modes of operation and a port (e.g., a USB port) is provided to allow the program stored in the associated memory to be modified by way of a computer, memory card or the Internet. In another embodiment, the apparatus takes the form of a medallion that can be worn around a user's neck or strategically placed on a user's body or embedded in other user hardware such as a combat or racing helmet.

In a composite electrical circuit protection device, thermal coupling between a planar PPTC element and a planar MOV element is controlled by insertion of a thermal mass material for regulating heat transfer from the MOV element to the PPTC element, such that a PPTC resistor hot zone forms consistently away from the planar major foil electrode confronting the MOV thereby regulating heat transfer from the MOV to the PPTC resistor.

A method and apparatus comprises a circuit adapted to be coupled to a power supply which produces a pulsed DC output, and a magnetic field generating coil coupled to the output of the circuit which is effective to produce a time varying magnetic field having a flux density in the range of about 0.0001 to 2.0 gauss at a frequency in the range of about 0 to 45 Hz. The coil is positioned at or near the site on the body of the patient to be treated, or, alternatively, beneath the patient's sleeping surface for a period ranging from about one-half hour to several hours depending upon the method and condition to be treated.

A circuit protection device () suitable for surface mounting on a substrate (). The device has a laminar PTC resistive element () which is composed of a conductive polymer composition and is positioned between first and second electrodes (). Attached to the first electrode is a first electrical terminal () containing an electrically conductive material which has a first attachment portion () connected to a first flexible portion () by means of a first connection portion (). At least part of the first flexible portion is free of attachment to the first electrode. The first attachment portion is coplanar with at least one of the first connection portion and the first flexible portion. The first attachment portion may contain a slot () and a solid hinge portion (). When the device is mounted on a substrate by means of a mounting component () extending from the first terminal, the first flexible portion allows contraction and expansion of the conductive polymer despite the rigid attachment of the mounting component onto the substrate.

An electrical device in which an element composed of a conductive polymer composition is positioned in contact with the first surface of a metal electrode, the first surface having a center line average roughness Rand a reflection density RD, the product Rtimes RD being 0.5 to 1.6 &#x3bc;m. The conductive polymer composition preferably exhibits PTC behavior. In a second embodiment an electrical device has an element composed of a conductive polymer composition in contact with the first surface of a metal electrode produced by providing a base metal foil having an Rof at most 0.45 &#x3bc;m and depositing material onto the base metal foil to form a first surface having a product of Ra times RD of at least 0.14 &#x3bc;m. Other embodiments include electrical devices with metal electrodes made by pulse plating processes, and metal electrodes made by electrodeposition under diffusion-limited conditions. The electrical devices may be circuit protection devices and have improved electrical and physical properties.
