A cushion having a series of pods connected in a matrix configuration. The pods are deformable in response to a person seated on the cushion. The pods cooperate to define primary airflow channels through the cushion from side edge to side edge, and from front edge to back edge, thereof. In one feature, a series of cruciform configured recesses are defined in the pods' top surfaces. These recesses cooperate to define secondary airflow channels through the cushion from side edge to side edge, and from front edge to back edge, thereof. In another feature, a series of first pods are located in those cushion areas which underlie and support a person's ischial and coccyx bones, and a series of second pods located in those cushion areas which do not underlie and support a person's ischial and coccyx bones. The first pods have a relatively thin wall covering a foamed interior and are of a relatively greater height to provide relatively soft pods. The second pods have a relatively thick wall covering a foamed interior and are of a relatively lesser height to form relatively firm pods. These difference in load bearing characteristics between the first and second pods aids in minimizing the pressure on a user's ischial and coccyx bones when seated on the cushion.

Cushion

A walker having a unique leg support system in which the walker's two stationary front legs are interchangeable at the user's discretion with two wheeled front legs, both types of legs being height adjustable relative to the walker's framework. The wheeled front legs are connectable to the walker's frame so the wheels can be oriented on either the outboard or the inboard of the walker's front leg. Each wheeled front leg includes a wheel axle and a pivot axle connected thereto, the pivot axle being pivotably connected to a front leg so the front leg can roll along a support surface, e.g., ground, on the wheel when the wheel is pivoted to a first position and so the front leg's foot can stand stationary on the support surface when the wheel is pivoted to a second position. The wheel is continuously spring loaded toward the first position where the wheel axle abuts the front leg's exterior surface so the walker's wheeled leg is biased into the first position when the walker is not in use, but can be pivoted to the second position in response to a user's downward force on the walker when it is in use.

Walker

A urinal bottle having a unique head that includes a deformable bellows which defines the mouth. The head also includes two finger stalls located on its rear face that cooperate with the bottle's handle. In use, and in response to manual pressure drawing the head section against a female user's vaginal area when the bottle is positioned between the user's legs, the bellows aids in positioning the mouth against and around the vaginal area for minimizing leakage when the user urinates into the bottle as she lies in a prone position. The finger stalls cooperate with the bottle's handle, one of the female user's hands holding the bottle by the handle and the other of the user's hands making use of the finger stalls, in order to draw the bottle's head against her vaginal area.

Urinal bottle

A tubular brace constructed so that no seam overlies the fold line of the surface skin behind the user's knee, or on top of the user's elbow, when the brace is being worn, thereby minimizing abrasive discomfort at those surface skin fold areas. Specifically, a first rear surface stitch line is positioned above the surface skin fold line at the knee or elbow joint, and a second rear surface stitch line is positioned below that surface skin fold line, these stitch lines being generally transverse to the brace's longitudinal axis, and these stitch lines cooperating with a generally longitudinal stitch line that extends between the brace's top and bottom edges.

Stretchable tubular brace for knee or elbow and method of construction

A shoulder brace of the type having a generally figure-8 configuration with right and left shoulder loops. Each of the shoulder straps that define the brace's right and left loops are provided with a cushioned inner surface adapted to extend over the wearer's trapezius muscle, over the anterior surface of the wearer's shoulder, and under the wearer's axilla so that the strap does not tend to bite into the wearer's body when the brace is worn. Each shoulder strap also is provided with an adjustable fastener connectable on the anterior surface of the wearer's shoulder between the wearer's trapezius muscle and the wearer's axilla, the fastener permitting the tightness or looseness of the shoulder loop to be adjusted by the wearer as desired while the brace is being worn. Each fastener is in the form of a hook and loop fastener with one of a hook fabric and a loop fabric being fixed to the shoulder strap in a position that overlies the anterior surface of the wearer's shoulder in the before mentioned area when the brace is being worn, and the other of the hook fabric and loop fabric being fixed to the free end of the strap. The free end of the strap is passed through a closed loop link that permits the size of the shoulder loop formed by the strap, and thereby the tightness of the brace on the wearer, to be tightened or loosened simply by drawing the strap through the link in one direction or the other. When the desired tightness of the shoulder loop is achieved, the hook fabric and loop fabric are simply pressed together by the wearer on the anterior surface of the wearer's shoulder.

Clavicle brace

A spring loaded button, positioned interiorly of an inner tube, protrudes through a hole in the inner tube into latched relation with a preselected one of a series of longitudinally spaced holes in a telescoped outer tube. The button is manually depressed inwardly of the outer tube when the relative position of the inner and outer tubes is to be changed, the button thereafter being released to spring out through another hole in the outer tube to hold the tubes in a different relative position. A catch lip is mounted on the outer end of the button. The catch lip is sized to engage the edge of the outer tube's hole in the event of a slight longitudinal and/or oscillatory movement between tubes to tend to impede or hinder premature and undesired unlatching during normal use of the tubes. But the catch lip is not sized to prevent manual unlatching movement of the button against the spring bias when a position change between tubes is desired.

Button latch for telescoped tubes

A digital/metacarpal splint having an elongate bone splint that is selectively positionable into splinting position with the digital bones of any one of the five fingers of a patient's hand, or with the metacarpal bones of a patient's hand. An elongate bone splint is connected to a palm plate, and the palm plate is connected to an elastic sleeve, the splint being mounted on the patient's hand and wrist through use of the elastic sleeve. The connection between bone splint and palm plate allows the bone splint to be easily and simply positioned and, thereafter, immobilized, to splint any of the hand's digital bones or metacarpal bones after the elastic sleeve, i.e., after the adjustable splint, is installed on the patient. The bone splint/palm plate connection includes a tang on one of the bone splint and the palm plate that is pivotably receivable in a tang bore formed in the other of the bone splint and the palm plate, an arcuate slot formed in one of the bone splint and the palm plate that cooperates with a slot bore formed in the other of the bone splint and the palm plate, and a fastener that passes through the slot and slot bore which is tightened when the bone splint is suitably positioned relative to the palm plate to hold those components in the desired angular position relative one to the other.

Adjustable digital/metacarpal splint

A multi-purpose anatomical support wrap is taught comprising an elongated rectilinear strap-like body portion terminating at each of its ends in a strap-like loop. The support requires no fastening devices and can be applied to the foot as an ankle and arch support, to the hand as a support for a jammed thumb, or to the hand and upper arm near the elbow to serve as a sling.

Multi-purpose anatomical support wrap

An athletic protective device comprising an essentially rigid cup of a size to enclose the genitals of the wearer, a flexible resilient molded binding secured to the periphery of the cup, the binding preferably being configured to provide a relatively thick body portion lying immediately beyond the peripheral edge of the cup, the binding flaring outwardly to form a relatively thin marginal lip adapted to contact the groin area of the wearer, the cup preferably having a plurality of closely spaced apart perforations extending about its periphery with the molded binding material extending through the perforations to form interlocks integrally joining the portions of the binding lying on opposite sides of the cup.
