A mobile device includes a panel audio loudspeaker including a display panel and an actuator coupled to the display panel. The mobile device includes a temperature sensor arranged to sense a temperature of the display panel, and an electronic control module in communication with the actuator and the temperature sensor. The electronic control module is programmed to perform operations including: obtaining, from the temperature sensor, data indicating a temperature of the display panel; and based on the data indicating the temperature of the display panel, adjusting a power signal provided to the actuator to drive the panel audio loudspeaker. The power signal can be adjusted by selecting, based on the data indicating the temperature of the display panel, a target temperature of the display panel; mapping the target temperature to a target power level; and changing the power signal provided to the actuator to the target power level.

A system and method of operation involves collecting acceleration and gyroscope data from a first sensor positioned in a wearable device on a user's wrist and a second sensor located in a mobile device. The mobile device determines a trajectory for the wearable device by filtering the first sensor data using the second sensor data, and determines a probability of the user holding an automobile steering wheel using the trajectory. The method may also include determining a probability of the user holding an automobile steering wheel of a specific automobile selected from an automobile list. The disclosed system includes the wearable device and the mobile device.

An electronic device has a housing, at least one actuator attached to the housing, and a deformable skin having air pores. The actuators are attached to both the housing and the deformable skin to impart a motion that causes a varying amount of separation. A thermal exchange cavity is defined by the housing and the deformable skin. A skin oscillation controller is contained with the housing and is electrically connected to the at least one actuators that vary a volume of the thermal exchange cavity by deforming the deformable skin, causing an exchange of ambient air through the air pores to convectively cool the housing.

An electronic system performs thermal management during its operation by proactively taking into account expected solar thermal loading. According to one embodiment, the electronic system determines its location and a solar thermal load value expected to affect its location. The system also determines a temperature offset value based on the solar thermal load value and predicts a future temperature for the system based on the temperature offset value and a then-current temperature for the system (e.g., as may be detected by one or more temperature sensors). The electronic system compares the predicted temperature to at least one threshold and executes a thermal mitigation procedure in the event that the predicted temperature exceeds one or more of the thresholds. According to another embodiment in which the electronic system is transportable, the determined solar thermal load value may include a solar thermal load profile for the system's expected route of travel.
