An application device for a disk brake includes an application shaft extending transversely of an application axis, a first support for supporting the application shaft on an application element, which is shiftable in the direction of the application axis, and a second support for supporting the application shaft on an abutment. The first and second supports have arc-shaped support surfaces on the application shaft, wherein the directions of the curvature of the support surfaces are the same, but the imaginary centers thereof do not coincide. The first and/or the second support has a support element which can shift transversely of the application axis. The support element is a sliding element, which is supported with a second flat slide face on a first flat slide face provided on the abutment or on the application element.

Application device for a disk brake

A brake includes a rotating element and a magnet wheel mounted on the rotating element so as to rotate with the rotating element about an axis of rotation. The magnet wheel has a first side extending transversely of the axis of rotation and facing the rotating element and a second side extending transversely of the axis of rotation and facing away from the rotating element. A first axial stop interacts with a first stop section located on the first side of the magnet wheel and a second axial stop interacts with a second stop section located on the second side of the magnet wheel for limiting an axial movement of the magnet wheel relative to the rotating element to a first predetermined amount. Along each line extending parallel to the axis of rotation and extending through the first or the second axial stop, the distance between the first stop section and the second stop section is smaller than the distance between the first axial stop and the second axial stop.

Brake

A wear monitoring apparatus for a disc brake, particularly a sliding caliper disc brake, is described. The disc brake has a sliding thrust piece which receives an application force exerted by an application mechanism, and a longitudinally adjustable transmission mechanism for transmitting the application force from the sliding thrust piece to a brake pad. Longitudinal adjustment of the transmission mechanism is a function of the extent of frictional wear of the brake pad. The wear monitoring apparatus includes a sensor for monitoring the mutual relative excursion of two elements which excursion is attributable to frictional wear of the brake pad. The sensor is mounted on the sliding thrust piece and/or the transmission mechanism and determines relative excursion between the sliding thrust piece and the transmission mechanism.

Wear monitoring apparatus for a disc brake

In a disc brake having, a thrust piece which extends parallel to the plane of the brake rotor and which presses a brake pad against the rotor in the direction of the axis of the rotor, an adjusting mechanism is provided which includes a torque-dependent one-way coupling for obtaining automatic, wear-compensating adjustment of the gap between the brake pad and the brake rotor. The torque-dependent one-way coupling is coupled to the thrust piece in such a way that it moves along with the thrust piece in the direction of the axis of the rotor.

Disc brake

A disc brake is described which is actuatable by a fluid pressure actuation apparatus. A brake application shaft (8) with a brake lever (6) extending approximately perpendicularly from the shaft is disposed inside a brake caliper housing (1). The ring-shaped space between the brake lever (6) and the region of the brake caliper housing (1) which surrounds lever (6) is sealed-off by a seal (18).

A sliding-caliper disc brake is described. To avoid inclined nonuniform tangential wear of the brake pads, each of the two brake shoes is 'de-coupled' from the brake caliper and/or from a pressure plate disposed on the actuation-side ('B-side'), of the brake disc. The brake shoes are braced against a brake bracket only on the outgoing side ('A side') of the brake disc, whereas the caliper is braced against the brake bracket only on the incoming side ('E side') of the brake disc. Therefore the caliper counters deformation of the brake and thereby reduces inclined nonuniform tangential wear of the brake pad associated with such deformation.

An actuating mechanism for a sliding caliper disc brake has an actuator shaft with a projection in the form of an involute with an increasing radius. The involute is linked to an arcuate shaped rolling element through a pin fitting in recesses in the respective parts. The rolling element applies pressure to a thrust piece for actuating the brake when the actuator shaft is rotated by a brake lever. The axis of the actuator shaft is displaced from the center plane of the thrust piece so that the line of contact of the projection and the rolling element is constantly on the center plane.

Actuating mechanism for a sliding-caliper disc brake

A process of permanently joining a cylindrical core (2) to a metallic beaker-shaped part (1) which together form an operating piston of a hydraulically operated disc brake includes inserting the core into a bore in the beaker-shaped part, and providing an axially protruding end on the core beyond the annular end surface (7) of the beaker-shaped part having a conical surface (8) extending from its free surface (6) into the front area of the beaker-shaped part (1). A wedge-shaped annular groove (11) is produced in the beaker-shaped part (1), whereby material is radially displaced inwardly so that it abuts against the conical surface (8) of the core to retain the core in the beaker-shaped part.

Process for the manufacture of a two-part operating piston for a disc

A continuous automatic adjustment device for a mechanically actuated sliding saddle disk brake (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) wherein the mechanically actuated device for moving the sliding saddle (1) vis-a-vis the brake disk (6) includes a diagonal-track spreading device (10, 11, 12) around an actuating shaft (7). The adjustment device has an adjustment nut (14) coupled with the actuating shaft (7) by a directional clutch (33) which operates in the direction of actuation when actuating shaft (7) turns and is formed by a wrap spring (33) or a freewheeling sleeve (34, 35). A force-dependent coupler (30) can be axially released from the action of a compression spring (23) when a given torque is exceeded by the actuation shaft, thereby preventing rotation from being transmitted to the adjustment nut.

Automatic adjustment device for a mechanically actuated sliding saddle

Leaf spring (18) for holding down the brake-lining carrier (25, 26), of a disc brake wherein the brake-lining carrier (25, 26) has a friction-lining free section (39) onto which is fixed a central holding section (27) of the leaf spring. The leaf spring has two uneven shanks (32, 33) which are each transversely angled from the central neck section (27) towards the brake-lining carrier. The shank (33) faces in a preferred direction of travel (D) towards the entrance side of the brake disc (2) and is bent away (35, 36, 37) from the brake-lining carrier radially outward (37) and abuts with its end (38) against the edge (22, 24) of an opening (17) of the caliper unit, which opening (17) accommodates friction-lining-free-section (39) of the brake-lining carrier (25, 26).

Leaf spring for holding down the brake-lining carrier of a disc brake

An automatic adjusting device for a mechanically acutated sliding-caliper disc brake has a mechanically actuated device for moving the sliding caliper relative to the brake disc comprising an oblique-track spreading device which has an actuating shaft, an adjusting nut coupled to the actuating shaft through a rotational ratchet mechanism which is operative when the actuating shaft is turned in the brake actuating direction, the rotational ratchet mechanism being formed as a positive-engagement saw-tooth ratchet having structural arrangements made so that when the actuating shaft exceeds a certain torque one section of the coupling yields axially against the force of a precompressed spring without transferring rotational movement to the adjusting nut.

Mechanically actuatable sliding-caliper disc brake

A brake having a brake carrier and saddle is disclosed in which a sliding bolt fastened to the saddle is received in a bore in the carrier. After actuation by the brake by hydraulic piston, the saddle is returned to its rest position by a compression spring. A friction element is provided between the sliding bolt in the bore for limiting the travel of the saddle in response to the bias of the spring. The friction element exerts a force greater than the bias of the spring but less than that exerted by the brake actuator, such that the brake is self-adjusting for lining wear. The brake is disclosed in plural embodiments.
