Methods and systems for a transportation vehicle are provided. For example, one method includes providing a seat identifier and/or a transportation vehicle identifier in a request to access a webpage via an Internet connection from a seatback device of a transportation vehicle; selecting a server that is not located on the transportation vehicle for providing content to the seatback device; executing a remote browser at the server for retrieving content from the Internet for the seatback device, without having to execute a browser at the seatback device; and rendering content at the seatback device as an image of the content retrieved by the remote browser.

Methods and systems for secured remote browsing from a transportation vehicle

A light-weight and low-power integrated system module suitable for installation at a passenger seat disposed aboard a passenger vehicle and methods for manufacturing and using same. By integrating selected interface system components with the associated interconnections, the integrated system module provides an intuitive user interface system for interacting with a passenger entertainment system. The integrated system module can be installed within a seatback of the passenger seat that compliments the look and feel of the user interface system, creating an immersive entertainment experience during travel.

System and method for providing an integrated user interface system at a seat

An antenna assembly including a support and antenna tiles disposed in the support. The antenna tiles form an external surface corresponding substantially in shape to lateral faces of a frustum. The frustum includes a central axis with the antenna tiles disposed around the central axis of the frustum and sloping away therefrom. Each antenna tile includes opposite ends, with one end narrower than the other end. A planar array of antenna elements is disposed on each antenna tile in which the antenna elements of each array are configured to operate as a phased array. A control system connects to the planar arrays of antenna elements in which the control system is configured to selectively activate and deactivate each of the planar arrays.

Antenna assembly

A vehicle entertainment system including a server storing media files, and smart monitors. Each smart monitor presents media selections corresponding to the media files and receives an input from passengers for playing a selection. Each smart monitor includes local content storage storing a subset of the media files. A network connects the smart monitors and server. Program logic executed by each smart monitor performs tasks including determining if a media file corresponding to an input is available from a first source, and if available, playing the media file from the first source; if the media file is not available there, determining if the media file required is available from a second source and if available, playing the media file from the second source; and if the media file is not available from the second source, determining if the media file is available from a third source.

A vehicle information system for passenger vehicles, such as automobiles and aircraft, and methods for manufacturing and using same. The vehicle information system includes a broadband communication system with a broadband antenna system and a broadband control system. Exploiting the advent of high-speed connectivity solutions, the vehicle information system supports a low-cost, high-capacity bidirectional data connection with a terrestrial content system and thereby can be established as another node on the 'Worldwide Net.' The vehicle information system likewise provides wireless access points for communicating with passengers' personal media devices. As desired, the vehicle information system can support mobile telephone connectivity and/or presentation of live integrated digital television (IDTV) programming. The vehicle information system thereby provides enhanced information, entertainment, and communication services during travel.

System and method for receiving broadcast content on a mobile platform during travel

A video display system for a passenger seat of a vehicle. The video display system is configured to be mounted to a seatback of each passenger seat or to other structure such that the system may be utilized by the passenger. The display system includes a video display assembly having a display housing configured to be mounted to structure in the vehicle. A video monitor is housed within the display housing. The video display assembly includes a depending tab portion disposed below the area of the video monitor. The depending tab portion includes a tab display capable of displaying a computer generated graphic and/or information. The display system may also have one or more indicator lights provided adjacent the external edge of the display housing.
