This present disclosure relates to fluorinated polysiloxane resin compositions, and method for making the same, without the need for using halogen acids, and that display excellent properties of impact resistance, flexibility, chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, weather resistance, heat and fire resistance, abrasion resistance, ultraviolet resistance, hydrophobicity, and substrate adhesion.

Method for producing fluorinated polysiloxane

The invention relates to an isocyanate-terminated polysiloxane material that can preferably be used as a curing agent, hardener or co-reactant in coatings. The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing the isocyanate-terminated polysiloxane material by partially hydrolyzing a methoxy-functional polysiloxane such as a methyl phenyl polysiloxane, and reacting it with a polyisocyanate to yield the isocyanate-terminated polysiloxane hardener. The hardener can preferably be used with any isocyanate-reactive functional group of another component to form coating systems, including acrylics, polyesters, epoxies and urethanes.

The invention relates to a high solids tint paste that is preferably substantially free of solvents that are volatile organic compounds. Preferably the universal tint paste is 100% solids and substantially free of any solvents. The universal tint paste is formed using a functional silicone resin intermediate that is end-capped with an alcohol, catalyzed to form a silicone resin product and combined with one or more desired pigments. The universal tint paste preferably can be used in a wide variety of solvent-borne and high solids coatings.
