A connection system for connecting gas delivery components of a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure system includes a first conduit with a first lumen forming a first part of a gas flow path for the breathable gas and a second conduit with a second lumen forming a second part of the gas flow path. The ends of each flexible connector include a magnets. The first and second flexible connectors are configured to be joined together to form a sealed connection by way of moving the first and second flexible connectors toward each other in an axial direction and are configured to be held together by a magnetic force between the first and second magnets. In addition, the first and second flexible connectors are configured to be separated from each other by pivoting the first and second connectors relative to each other.

Connectors for connecting components of a breathing apparatus

Disclosed are systems and methods for managing consent to share data from a user device. In some examples, the system stores user identifiers referenced to the user's individual consent preferences. The consent preferences may include data types, data generating devices to which the user consents, types of third parties the user consents to share the data with and other consent preferences. Third parties may communicate with the system, and determine whether a user has consented to share their data.

Data consent storage and management system and method

A gas delivery component of a CPAP system is configured to magnetically connect to a second gas delivery component of the CPAP system to deliver a pressurized flow of breathable gas to a patient's airways. The gas delivery component includes a lumen forming a first part of a gas flow path for the breathable gas. A connection end of the gas delivery component is configured to engage the second gas delivery component. In addition, a magnetic connection assembly is located at the connection end and includes a magnet positioned at least partially within the lumen. The magnetic connection assembly is configured to magnetically secure the gas delivery component to the second gas delivery component.

A patient interface assembly is configured to deliver pressurized gas to the patient's airways. The patient interface assembly includes a patient interface structure that is configured to sealingly engage the patient's face. The patient interface includes a receptacle. The patient interface assembly further includes headgear configured to support the patient interface structure on the patient's head. The headgear includes a clip that is receivable by the receptacle. The receptacle and the clip together form a multiple stage connection arrangement in which each of the multiple stages corresponds to an interlocked position of the clip in the receptacle. Each stage is associated with a corresponding range of headgear tension.

Headgear tensioning for respiratory mask

A breathing apparatus includes components, including, but not limited to, a flow generator, a patient interface, and a delivery conduit. A connector for connecting components of the breathing apparatus includes a male connector, including a recess, extending from a first component, and a female connector, including a lever pivotally connected thereto, extending from a second component. A switch indicates a connection state of the connector. The switch includes a ring provided in an end of the first or second component and the ring includes a projection extending through an aperture in the end of the first or second component. The projection is movable between a first position and a second position to indicate the state of the connector.

Headgear for a patient interface includes at least one headgear strap and an indicator provided to the at least one headgear strap structured to indicate attainment of a desired adjustment setting of the headgear in response to headgear tension applied to the at least one headgear strap.

A patient interface for treatment of a user having a respiratory disorder includes a nasal portion having at least one nasal portion aperture adapted to be in communication with a supply of pressurized gas for delivery to at least one nasal opening of the user, and a mouth portion having at least one mouth portion aperture also adapted to be in communication with the supply of pressurized gas to deliver the pressurized gas to an oral cavity of the user's mouth. The at least one mouth portion aperture is separate from the at least one nasal portion aperture, and the patient interface is adapted to limit a flow of the pressurized gas out of the at least one aperture of the mouth portion to be no greater than a flow of the pressurized gas out of the at least one nasal portion aperture.

Patient interface

A method and apparatus that provides an expert system for determining respiratory phase during ventilatory support of a subject. Discrete phase states are partitioned and prior probability functions and observed probability functions for each state are defined. The probability functions are based upon relative duration of each state as well as the flow characteristics of each state. These functions are combined to determine phase probabilities for each state using Bayes' theorem. The calculated probabilities for the states may then be compared to determine which state the subject is experiencing. A ventilator may then conform respiratory support in accordance with the most probable phase. To provide a learning feature, the probability functions may be adjusted during use to provide a more subject specific response that accounts for changing respiratory characteristics.

Ventilator patient synchronization

Systems and methods for selecting a mask system for a patient are provided. Certain example embodiments include generating 3D contours of patients and selecting mask systems based at least on these contours. These contours may be generated by using, for example, a cushion of translatable pins, a nasal cannular scanning device, and/or a shadow stereopsis sensor. Certain other example embodiments allow images and/or videos to be captured and optionally synchronized. Then, images of various mask systems may be overlaid to determine how well a mask system fits. In still other embodiments, a user can hold a transparency corresponding to a mask design in front of the patient's face to determine how well a mask system fits.

Mask fitting system and method

A method and apparatus are provided for authenticating a measure of sleepiness in a person in which a measure of the person's sleepiness and an authentication step are performed substantially simultaneously on substantially the same physical attribute of the person. In one form, an eye of a person is scanned under infrared light and a unique identifying code is calculated from the iris as an authentication step. In one form, a measure of the person's sleepiness is determined from changes in the pupil size with time.
