Systems, apparatus, and methods that provide a flexible current sensor capable of measuring current flowing through a conductor without contacting the conductor. In various implementations, a flexible current sensor may have a comparable size, shape, and appearance as a flexible loop of a Rogowski coil, except the current sensor described herein can sense direct current (DC). The current sensors of the present disclosure utilize a novel open loop degaussing mechanism to provide accurate DC current measurements in a conductor. To achieve this, a current sensor includes an AC degaussing coil wrapped around a magnetic core. A driver circuit drives an AC degaussing signal in the AC degaussing core, which operates to reset or degauss the magnetic core, thereby providing more accurate current measurements.

Analysis systems can include both a test and measurement tool for generating measurement data representative of at least one parameter of a device under test and an imaging tool for generating image data representative of a target scene. An electrical isolation mechanism can electrically isolate a user operating the analysis tool from the test and measurement circuit through the imaging tool. The electrical isolation mechanism can include an insulating coating surrounding a part of the imaging tool having an opening proximate the imaging tool so that electromagnetic radiation can enter through the opening and reach the imaging tool. The opening can be sized so that a standard finger cannot penetrate the opening to within a predetermined distance of the imaging tool. Additionally or alternatively, a window positioned over the opening can prevent access to the imaging tool via the opening.

Systems and methods for placing an imaging tool in a test and measurement tool

Systems and methods provide measurement of alternating current (AC) electrical parameters in an insulated wire without requiring a galvanic connection between the insulated wire and a test probe. Measurement systems or instruments may include a housing that includes both a non-contact voltage sensor and a non-contact current sensor. The measurement system obtains measurements from the voltage sensor and the current sensor during a measurement time interval and processes the measurements to determine AC electrical parameters of the insulated wire. The AC electrical parameters may be presented to an operator via a visual indicator device (e.g., display, lights). The AC electrical parameters may additionally or alternatively be communicated to an external device via a wired and/or wireless communications interface. The measurement system may include an alignment feedback sensor that provides feedback to a user regarding the mechanical alignment of the insulated wire relative to the voltage sensor and the current sensor.

Non-contact electrical parameter measurement systems

Systems and methods for measuring alternating current (AC) voltage of an insulated conductor (e.g., insulated wire) are provided, without requiring a galvanic connection between the conductor and a test electrode or probe. A non-galvanic contact (or 'non-contact') voltage measurement system includes a conductive sensor, an internal ground guard and a reference shield. A common mode reference voltage source is electrically coupled between the internal ground guard and the reference shield to generate an AC reference voltage which causes a reference current to pass through the conductive sensor. At least one processor receives a signal indicative of current flowing through the conductive sensor due to the AC reference voltage and the AC voltage in the insulated conductor, and determines the AC voltage in the insulated conductor based at least in part on the received signal.

Systems and methods for measuring alternating current (AC) voltage of an insulated conductor (e.g., insulated wire) are provided, without requiring a galvanic connection between the conductor and a test electrode or probe. A non-galvanic contact (or 'non-contact') voltage measurement system includes a variable capacitance subsystem which operates to generate a variable capacitive voltage between an insulated conductor under test and earth ground. During measurement, the non-contact voltage measurement system varies the capacitance of the variable capacitance subsystem to change the impedance of a capacitive divider circuit between the insulated conductor under test and earth ground. By sequentially making two (or three) measurements across the variable capacitance subsystem, the AC voltage of the insulated conductor can be determined without requiring any galvanic connection to the insulated conductor. The determined AC voltage of the insulated conductor may then be presented to an operator and/or communicated to an external device.

Variable capacitance non-contact AC voltage measurement system

A system providing a power source includes an electrical input and multiple electrical outputs. The electrical input is couplable to a current clamp that selectively clamps around at least one electrical conductor. A transformer coupled to the electrical input receives an input electrical signal from the at least one electrical conductor and produces an output electrical signal that is electrically isolated from the input electrical signal. Conversion circuitry electrically converts the output electrical signal to a converted electrical signal that is usable to power multiple electrical devices. Distribution circuitry distributes the converted electrical signal to the multiple electrical outputs, wherein each electrical output is couplable to an electrical device to provide power to the electrical device.

Apparatus and methods for measuring current flowing through a conductor include a device comprised of a magnetically conductive loop having a plurality of strands and a magnetic field sensor. Each strand has a magnetically conductive material. The strands are configured to pass a magnetic field to a first magnetic field sensor that is positioned adjacent to an end of the first plurality of strands. The plurality of strands may be arranged in various patterns that allow the magnetically conductive loop to be more bendable or flexible than a current-clamp device.
