An electronic apparatus and method for enabling verification of performance improvements of an optimized service provided by a service provider receives a request to perform testing operations with respect to the optimized service, wherein the request includes one or more parameters for configuring the testing operations, transmits test packets to a test server on a standard path and on an optimized path, receives the test packets from the test server via the standard path and the optimized path, performs measurements related to timing of the test packets on the standard path and the test packets on the optimized path, respectively, processes the respective measurements related to timing to generate results of the testing operations, and outputs the results of the testing operations for display.

Electronic apparatus and method for latency measurements and presentation for an optimized subscriber service

A server application can serve a web application to a client device as a client web application from a web application host. The server application can be a secure HTTPS website. The web application on the client device can provide a token over a local network using a HTTP request to a target device on the local network. The token is associated with a secure area of a remote repository. Having received the one or more tokens, the target device can indicate that a link has been established to the secure area by writing to or reading from the secure area as the server application informs the client web application executing in a browser at a client device of the read/write. The target device and client web application can then communicate via the secure area, for example, to store or retrieve data associated with a user.

An optimizing agent of an access point device can identify traffic associated with a resource for an optimized service flow so as to provide a user an enhanced experience. The optimizing agent can identify the traffic for the optimized service flow based on one or more optimizations settings. The optimization settings can include a policy that indicates a priority level, a bandwidth, a QoS, or any other prioritization setting. A user can manage a list of resources associated with the one or more optimization settings via a user interface either hosted by a network resource or network device such that traffic associated with the resources should receive optimization.

A system and method for utilizing a plain-old-telephone ('POT') to interface with a digital assistant system. The POT is linked to an interface adapted to selectively provide a bidirectional audio connection to a standard telephone communication network, or to provide an interface to a digital assistant system in response to user voice commands. The functionality of the POT digital assistant interface being dependent upon the user input—DTMF tone/pulse dialing signals as opposed to voice commands spoken into the POT mouthpiece. Audio cues and prompts, as well as audio responses from the digital assistant system are provided to the user via the POT earpiece. Digital assistant functionality is provided via a simple and familiar interface, without impeding any standard voice telephony functionality (making/receiving calls, call waiting, caller ID, etc.)

System and method for digital assistant interface utilizing plain-old-telephone

A wireless communication device for use with a communication device and a network gateway connected to the Internet, wherein the communication device can communicate with the network gateway. The wireless communication device includes: a communication component operable to communicate with the network gateway; a memory component having temporary network access credentials stored therein; and a credential feature associated with the temporary network access credentials and being accessible by the communication device. The communication component can further establish a temporary network connection with the gateway based on the temporary network access credentials, and can further join a permanent network with the gateway.

System and method for simplified wifi set up of client devices

A streaming media server is provided that receives a request over a network from a customer premises gateway to receive a streaming media content item that is to be presented on two or more client devices in a synchronized manner. Responsive to the request, the streaming media server sends a manifest associated with the requested streaming media content item to the customer premises gateway only when it has been incrementally updated to remove an oldest media segment URL from the manifest and add a most recent media segment URL to the manifest.

Methods of delivering IP video content to CPE devices over a network are provided. Customer content-of-interest information is collected from the CPE devices. When a request for an item of content from a requesting one of the CPE devices is received, a determination is made as to whether the requested item of content is of interest to at least a pre-determined minimum number of other CPE devices on the network via analysis of the collected content-of-interest information. The item of content may be multicast over the network if the item of content is of interest to at least the pre-determined minimum number of CPE devices. Alternatively, content indicated as being of interest by at least the pre-determined number of CPE devices may be scheduled for multicast at a low utilization time of the network or at a low priority level. A system for preforming the above methods is disclosed.

System and methods for multicast delivery of internet protocol video content

In a method of managing 3D video stream, 3D video stream is output to a connected display. The connected display displays the 3D video stream after a delay associated with the connected display. A timing offset is determined based on the delay. The timing offset is operable to be used to synchronize shutter operations of at least one shutter glasses with the presentation of the 3D video stream. A shutter control signal based on a frame start indication from the 3D video stream is transmitted. The frame start indication is operable to be used to determine a frame rate of the 3D video stream, and the shutter control signal is operable to be used to maintain synchronization of the shutter operations of the at least one shutter glasses with the presentation of the 3D video stream at the connected display.

A decoding apparatus includes at least one data input terminal receiving a program transport stream from an external set-top box. A decoder decodes the program transport stream and a data output terminal outputs the decoded content to an external device. A method and system for including non-graphic data in an analog video output signal of a set-top box. Graphics data is generated from and represents non-graphic data using software or firmware that is executed by a processor, system-on-a-chip integrated circuit, or some other component of the set-top box. The graphics data is alpha blended with video data that is extracted from a digital television signal. This alpha blending results in an alpha blended digital video signal. The alpha blended digital video signal is converted into the analog video output signal by a digital encoder function, which is preferably included in the system-on-a-chip integrated circuit. The alpha blending is also preferably performed by the alpha blending function of the system-on-a-chip integrated circuit. The analog video output signal can then be input into an analog video recorder.
