Apparatus, systems and methods for detecting light

An image acquisition device compresses a media signal representative of a scene based on a sensing matrix that is a determined by a sensing matrix template and a set of template parameters. The image acquisition device provides the compressed media signal to a receiver and selectively provides a specification of a subset of the set of template parameters to the receiver. The receiver extracts one or more scene descriptors representative of one or more portions of the scene from the compressed media signal using the sensing matrix template without knowledge of the template parameters that are not included in the subset. The template parameters that are not included in the subset are not received by the receiver.

The present disclosure generally discloses a three-dimensional (3D) image reconstruction capability. The 3D image reconstruction capability may be configured to support reconstruction of a 3D image of a scene. The 3D image reconstruction capability may be configured to support reconstruction of a 3D image of a scene based on lensless compressive image acquisition performed using a lensless compressive camera having a single aperture and a set of multiple sensors. The reconstructed 3D image of a scene may include (1) image data indicative of a set of multiple two-dimensional (2D) images reconstructed based on the set of multiple sensors of the lensless compressive camera (which may be represented as images) and (2) depth information indicative of depths at points or areas of an overlapping portion of the multiple images reconstructed based on the set of multiple sensors of the lensless compressive camera (which may be represented as a depth map).

3D image reconstruction based on lensless compressive image acquisition

A plurality of lighting elements is configured to selectively illuminate a scene during a plurality of time intervals. The plurality of lighting elements forms a different illumination pattern in each of the plurality of time intervals. One or more sensors are configured to measure a plurality of intensities of light received from the scene during the plurality of time intervals. A processor is configured to generate an image of the scene based on the plurality of intensities. In some cases, the plurality of lighting elements are switched on or off to produce different illumination patterns during a plurality of time intervals that too short to be perceptible to the human eye.

Method and apparatus for arbitrary resolution video coding using compressive sampling measurements

In a method for controlling congestion within a cell of a wireless network providing mobile HTTP adaptive streaming (HAS), a mobile HAS client in the cell delays a request for a next HAS segment of a HAS media stream for a delay time interval in response to a notification of congestion within the cell. The mobile HAS client calculates a reduced bitrate for the next HAS segment, and requests the next HAS segment at the reduced bitrate after expiration of the delay time interval. The reduced bitrate is reduced relative to a bitrate for a previous HAS segment of the HAS media stream.

The method includes receiving, by a decoder, a set of measurements, where the set of measurements represents encoded video data having original video data with an original display resolution. The method further includes determining, by the decoder, a display resolution, where the display resolution is higher than the original display resolution, and determining a reduction matrix based on at least a number of pixels for the determined display resolution, where the reduction matrix includes a pattern of values. In one aspect, a system and method is provided for determining at least one kernel matrix based on the relative motion of an object during a time period corresponding to the acquisition of one or more compressive measurements of the object. An uncompressed image of the object is generated using the compressive measurements using a reconstruction basis matrix that is different from the compressive basis matrix used to acquire the compressive measurements of the object. In an illustrative embodiment, the compressive measurements are obtained from respective ones of only a designated subset of the sensors, and a non-compressive measurement is obtained from at least a given one of the sensors not in the designated subset, with the time delays between the arrivals of the signal at different ones of the sensors being determined based on the compressive measurements and the non-compressive measurement.
