According to an aspect there is provided an inflation apparatus () for use with an inflation-based non-invasive blood pressure, NIBP, measurement apparatus, the inflation apparatus comprising: an outlet () configured to be coupled to a cuff of the inflation-based NIBP measurement apparatus; a pump () configured to output a flow of gas at an output flow rate; a valve () disposed along a flow path between the pump and the outlet to selectively pass part of the flow of gas output by the pump; and a control unit () configured to control the flow resistance of the valve to provide a flow of gas to the outlet at a required flow rate for inflating the cuff.

Inflation apparatus for an inflation-based non-invasive blood pressure monitor and a method of operating the same

According to an aspect there is provided an inflation apparatus () for use in an inflation-based non-invasive blood pressure, NIBP, measurement apparatus, the inflation apparatus comprising: an outlet () configured to be coupled to a cuff of the inflation-based NIBP measurement apparatus; a plurality of pumps () each configured to output a flow of gas to the outlet; and a control unit () configured to enable at least one of the plurality of pumps to output a flow of gas to the outlet based on a required flow rate to inflate the cuff and/or to control a flow rate of at least one of the plurality of pumps to output a flow of gas to the outlet based on a required flow rate to inflate the cuff.

In a pump arrangement () for use with a double breast pump device, a first air conduit () and a second air conduit () have a function in connecting respective expression kits () to the pump arrangement (). Each of the air conduits () N is connectable to and disconnectable from a suction side and a discharge side, respectively, of a pump () that is included in the pump arrangement (). A breast pump arrangement having an expression kit with a milk flow sensor () is provided. The milk flow sensor () comprises a container () with a first end with a first opening () and a second end with a second opening (). A milk amount sensor () is provided to measure a height or volume of milk in the container. An angle of the device with respect to the direction of gravity is determined () and a location of one or more features of the user holding the device is identified (). Device comprising a blood pressure sensor and a method for controlling the device

According to an aspect, there is provided an apparatus for measuring the blood pressure, BP, of a user, the apparatus comprising a volume-clamp BP monitoring device that comprises a first pressure device for applying pressure to a first part of the body of the user, a first photoplethysmogram, PPG, sensor for obtaining a first PPG signal from the first part of the body of the user, and a control unit that is configured to analyse the first PPG signal and to control the pressure of the first pressure device; wherein the control unit is configured to adjust the pressure of the first pressure device to maintain the first PPG signal at a constant level and to determine the BP of the user from the pressure of the first pressure device; and a second sensor, separate from the first PPG sensor, for measuring a physiological characteristic of the user in a second part of the body of the user, wherein the second part of the body is separate from the first part of the body; wherein the apparatus is configured to analyse the measured physiological characteristic to determine a measure of the blood perfusion in the second part of the body of the user, and to determine whether to perform a recalibration of the volume-clamp BP monitoring device on the basis of changes in the blood perfusion.

Method and apparatus for measuring blood pressure

There is provided a blood pressure monitor for use in measuring the blood pressure of a subject, the blood pressure monitor comprising a cuff that is configured to be placed around a body part of the subject and inflated to apply pressure to the body part; a pressure sensor that is configured to provide measurements of the pressure in the cuff; a plethysmography sensor comprising a coil having one or more windings that is configured to provide an output signal indicating the volume of the body part of the subject and/or changes in the volume of the body part; and a processing unit that is configured to determine the blood pressure of the subject from the measurements of the pressure in the cuff and the measurements of the volume of the body part and/or the changes in the volume of the body part. A corresponding method claim is also provided.

A cardio-pulmonary compression system includes a compression device (), a supporting mechanism () coupled to the compression device and a feedback sensor () configured to measure interactions between a patient and the compression device. Compensation for deflection in an automated cardiopulmonary compression device

A device is configured for tracking e.g. the diastolic blood pressure in a patient. The device applies a pressure to a body part, e.g. by use of an inflatable cuff. By performing repeated and alternating pressure changes in the cuff, a specific feature of a signal that relates to the diastolic blood pressure can be tracked and possibly measured. The device may have particular use in conjunction with cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices.

A system for providing feedback regarding chest compressions in CPR, an automated resuscitation device and a method for providing feedback regarding chest compressions in CPR, are based upon a quality measure for cardio pulmonary resuscitation. The system includes a measuring unit, a processor, an indicator unit, and a sensor and display. The measuring unit measures an arterial blood pressure of a patient. The processor calculates a blood pressure CPR quality index based on the measured blood pressure as a function of time. An automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ACPR) device includes a compression element for acting on a compression location on a chest of a patient, and an optical alignment aid configured and arranged for projecting, at least temporarily, a light pattern on the patient's chest. The light pattern projected by the optical alignment aid guides the user during the placement procedure of the ACPR device. The light pattern projected by the optical alignment aid allows the user to monitor whether the position of the automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation device has moved during the administration of CPR.

A method for automated CPR includes controlling a position of a compression element during movement of the compression element from an initial starting position (P) of a first compression cycle to a first compression position (P) corresponding to a first compression depth and back to a rest position of the compression element. After, the rest position has been reached, the method includes controlling a force exerted on the compression element, to ensure that the compression element stays in contact or re-contacts with the chest while allowing the chest to move upward due to ventilation, prior to the start of a second compression cycle.

According to the invention, a compression depth sensor for measuring a compression depth comprises a first pressure transducer (), attachable to a fixed element, a first liquid filled lumen (), having a first fixed lumen end () attachable to the pressure transducer and a first movable lumen end () being movable between a first position and a second position, a distance between the first and second position defining the compression depth, whereby the first pressure transducer is adapted to measure the compression depth by measuring a change in liquid pressure in the lumen during movement of the first movable lumen end between the first position and the second position. A CPR apparatus according to the invention comprises such a compression sensor.
