A method for detecting target material or explosives using Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance, comprises the steps of providing a sample material to test for a target material. The sample material is then irradiated with a first frequency from a continuous wave signal generator to create at least one sample material return frequency. A return frequency is then measured and it is determined whether the sample material contains the target material by comparing the return frequency to a known target material frequency in a library. The method allows for simultaneous irradiation of sample material and measuring the return frequency of the sample material. The method utilizes NQR to detect explosive material using a power safe for human scanning and testing.

Method for detecting target materials using nuclear quadrupole resonance

A system and method for detecting at least one material under test (MUT) is presented. A Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (NQR) measurement system includes a waveform generator configured to generate a continuous wave (CW) input signal comprising one or more frequencies. An RF shielded chamber receives the at least one MUT that is carried by a person walking through the chamber. A probe within the chamber illuminates the MUT with the CW signal and simultaneously receives possible NQR emissions from the at least one MUT. A bridge circuit is utilized to cancel the strong excitation CW signal from the generator which would otherwise mask the weak NQR emissions from the MUT that are received and detected by the measurement system. A detector can then detect the MUT based, at least in part, on the resonance signal.

Location is provided using a cross grid array or a phase detector is used for each balanced line, with phase determining the distance to the sensed substance.

A method of providing a defense against a shaped charge uses an outer and an inner armor layer provided with a medial space between these outer and inner armor layers. One or more defensive shaped charges are positioned in the medial space. If the outer armor layer is attacked by ordnance having an offensive shaped charge, one or more of the defensive shaped charges positioned in the medial space is detonated so as to degrade the effectiveness of the offensive shaped charge and prevent penetration of the inner armor layer.

The present invention is an apparatus for detecting and disabling a human eye or optical device used in the fire control of a weapon. This apparatus comprises a prism having a plurality of peripheral reflective surface. This prism has a longitudinal axis and rotating about said longitudinal axis. An infrared (IR) laser directs an infrared laser beam toward the prism side that the laser beam is reflected toward the human eye or optical device, such that the IR laser beam is retroreflected to the prism. There is also an infrared IR detector which detects the IR retroreflected laser beam reflected from the prism. A visible light wavelength laser which produces a visible light wavelength laser beam which is reflected from the prism to the human eye or optical device to disable the human eye or optical device to prevent use of the weapon.
