The present disclosure teaches an algal growth system. The algal growth system includes a flexible sheet material, a liquid reservoir, a mechanism to rotate the flexible sheet material, a resource reclamation device, and an enclosure. The flexible sheet material facilitates growth of a biofilm. The liquid reservoir is configured to retain a contacting liquid in contact with the flexible sheet material and the mechanism rotates the flexible sheet material through the contacting liquid. The resource reclamation device associated with the enclosure is configured to collect and provide a resource for reuse.

Systems and methods for predictive gift subscriptions are provided. A gift subscription service may store a gift subscription and a profile associated with a gift recipient. The gift subscription service may then identify a time to send a gift to the gift recipient and associate a computational model with the gift recipient and the profile. When the gift subscription service determines a change in the profile, the gift subscription service may then update the computational model associated with the gift recipient in real-time by applying a machine learning algorithm to the change in the profile and use the updated computation model to formulate a prediction for the gift recipient that may then be used to identify a set of gifts to present to the gift recipient. The gift subscription service may then present the set of gifts to the gift recipient.

Systems and methods for predictive gift subscriptions

A lift is placeable in a waterbody for a watercraft having a water intake port and a water drawing device for drawing water through the water intake port. The lift includes a tank. The tank has an interior and an exterior, with the interior including a chamber. The tank also has an upper surface configured for receiving the watercraft, and a water inflow port and a selectively actuable valve for permitting water to flow into the chamber. A water outflow port is provided which is configured to be matable with the water intake port. The water intake port of the watercraft can be mated with the water outflow port of the tank to permit the water drawing device of the watercraft to draw water out of the tank.

A child's foot-assisted scooterlike locomotion device is provided which is adapted for use with wheels on improved hard surfaces and for use with skids for use on snow-covered surfaces. Turning of the device is accomplished, irrespective of whether the device is equipped with wheels or skids, by a shift of weight on the device in the direction in which turning is to occur.

A linear magnetic bearing provides magnetic support by means of permanent magnets and control by means of electromagnets and an electronic control system such that virtually zero power is required to maintain the bearing in suspension. Persisting net force producing electric energization of the electromagnets resulting from displacement of the bearing causes the energization to be augmented to reposition the bearing to an oppositely displaced position of substantial equilibrium with minimized net force producing electric energization of the electromagnets. The linear magnetic bearing is effectively utilized in one application to significantly reduce the power requirements for magnetic levitation vehicles.
