A rupture resistant system, including a tank configured to increase an inner volume of the tank under increased pressure conditions, wherein the tank, a sidewall extending about the inner volume of the tank, and wherein the sidewall includes an interior surface and an exterior surface, a bottom wall coupled to the sidewall, and a tank cover coupled to the sidewall opposite the bottom wall, wherein the tank cover includes a first plate coupled to a second plate, wherein the second plate extends from the first plate, and the first plate couples to a second end of the sidewall with a joint without overlapping the interior and exterior surfaces of the sidewall. The system also includes a radiator coupled to the tank, the radiator comprising a first panel and a second panel positioned at a distance from the first panel, the first panel and second panel being configured to increase the distance of the inner volume of the radiator.

Rupture resistant system

An article exhibiting magnetic properties, a method for providing corrosion resistance to an article, and an electric machine element are disclosed. The article comprises a substrate comprising a first portion of a magnetic material, the magnetic material exhibiting magnetic properties. The article further comprises a transition layer comprising a second portion of the magnetic material and a first portion of a coating material. The transition layer is disposed on at least a portion of the substrate. The article further comprises an outer layer comprising a second portion of the coating material. The outer layer is disposed on at least a portion of the transition layer.

A rupture resistant system, including a tank configured to increase an inner volume of the tank under increased pressure conditions, wherein the tank includes a component situated within the inner volume of the tank and susceptible to increasing pressure within the tank when under an electrical fault condition, a sidewall extending about the inner volume of the tank, and wherein the sidewall includes an interior surface and an exterior surface, a bottom wall coupled to the sidewall, and a tank cover coupled to the sidewall opposite the bottom wall, wherein the tank cover includes a first plate coupled to a second plate, wherein the second plate extends from the first plate, and the first plate extends over the sidewall and the second plate overlaps and couples to the exterior surface of the sidewall with a first joint.

A rupture resistant system is provided and comprises a tank comprising a top member, a combined body member, the combined body member forming a side and bottom of the tank, the combined body member comprising at least one curved non-linear surface to define a partially curved interior in at least a portion of the tank; and a component situated within the tank and susceptible to creating increasing pressure within the tank when under a fault condition. At least one of the top, sidewall, and bottom members is connected to another of the top, sidewall, and bottom members in a manner so as to cause an increase in inner volume of the tank under increased pressure conditions.

Rupture resistant tank system

A system comprises a tank, a radiator connected to the tank, and a component situated within the tank and susceptible to creating increasing pressure within system when under a fault condition. The radiator is configured to directionally vent pressure under excessive pressure conditions.

A rupture resistant system comprises a tank comprising a top member, a sidewall member, and a bottom member, and a component situated within the tank and susceptible to creating increasing pressure within the tank when under a fault condition. At least one of the top, sidewall, and bottom members is connected to another of the top, sidewall, and bottom members in a manner so as to cause an increase in inner volume of the tank under increased pressure conditions.

In some embodiments, an X-ray target includes a target cap formed of a substrate material and a focal track layer of emitting material, and at least one of the substrate material and the emitting material has a density greater than about 95.0% of theoretical density. In some embodiments, a method of manufacturing an X-ray target includes forming an intermediate target cap form of substrate material and a focal track layer of emitting material, and compacting the intermediate target cap form by application of gas pressure at elevated temperature to form a final target cap form, and at least the substrate material is dense substrate material having a final density greater than an intermediate density or the emitting material is dense emitting material having a final emitting material density greater than an intermediate emitting material density.

X-ray system, X-ray apparatus, X-ray target, and methods for manufacturing same

High-permeability, low-core-loss soft magnetic composite materials, compositions containing the same, and methods for making the same are described. These magnetic materials are made by forming fiber or flake shaped particles from a ferromagnetic material, annealing the particles, and then coating an insulating material on the particles. These particles can then be compacted to form an article that has high permeability, high saturation, low core loss, and is a suitable replacement for laminations in various applications, such as motors.

Coated ferromagnetic particles and compositions containing the same

A brazed X-ray target includes a metallic cap and a graphite back including a nonlinear record groove attached thereto along a stepped surface. An upper corner joint of the stepped surface is distanced from a cap outer edge and a focal track where the maximum heat is generated during use of the target. The graphite back is extended outward toward the cap outer edge to increase a thermal storage of the graphite, and a recess is formed into the cap to maintain a selected moment of inertia of the target and thereby maintain the rotordynamics of a given X-ray tube.

High performance x-ray target

Hard tooling for consolidation of a workpiece there between is preserved for reuse by disposing between the tooling and a workpiece a plurality of distinct, superimposed sacrificial sheets, for example metal foils, to isolate the workpiece from the tooling. The sacrificial sheets are substantially non-adherent one to another; and a sheet in contact with a workpiece surface is substantially chemically non-reactive with such workpiece surface.

Reusable hard tooling for article consolidation and consolidation method

A variable volume oven that can be modified to adjust its volume according to the cooking load. The volume of the oven is able to be adjusted by providing a heating element that is vertically adjustable within the oven to a position that provides better convective and radiative heating to the cooking load.

Variable volume oven

A seal-less pump and electric motor assembly includes a motor rotor fixed to a driving shaft connected to an impeller in the pump assembly. The rotor and impeller are enclosed in a common housing such that the rotor rotates within any fluid being pumped by the impeller. The portion of the housing circumscribing the rotor includes a plurality of axially extending, circumferentially spaced strips of magnetic material penetrating through plastic material of the housing. Each of the strips coincide with corresponding ones of the pole teeth of a motor stator circumscribing the outer portion of the housing such that the strips in the housing act as extensions of the pole teeth. In one embodiment, the strips of magnetic material in the housing are formed by molding powdered iron in a plastic binder material. The strips are then placed in a mold in which the housing is formed by injecting plastic. The plastic binder in the strips melds with the injected plastic to form a continuous housing for enclosing the rotor. The ferromagnetic material strips extend through the housing and are spaced from the rotor surface by a normal air gap distance so as to improve the efficiency of the motor by having the magnetic strip act as extensions of the motor stator pole teeth. In one embodiment, the rotor includes a shaft, a core including a molded magnetic powder and plastic composite material surrounding the shaft, and an annular corrosion resistant electrically conductive tube surrounding the core.

Induction motor driven seal-less pump

An improved high performance x-ray system having a rotating anode therein which includes an improved coating for the x-ray tube rotor. The surface of the x-ray tube rotor is coated with a ductile, metal coating, preferably iron, having a thickness of about 0.2 to about 5.0 mils thick. The rotor coating has ductile properties with a strain to fail greater than 0.05% and thermal expansion properties which when placed on an x-ray tube rotor, provides at least about 40,000 x-ray scan-seconds prior to tube failure due to rotor spalling.

Emissive coating for X-ray tube rotors

An improved high performance x-ray system having a rotating anode therein which includes an improved coating for the x-ray tube rotor. The surface of the x-ray tube rotor is coated with a ductile coating wherein at least about 40,000 x-ray scan-seconds are accomplished prior to tube failure due to spalling. The coating may be a ductile alloy such as Rene' 80 having a thickness of about 0.2 to about 5.0 mils thick and may be even thicker. The rotor coating has ductile properties with a strain to fail greater than 0.05% and thermal expansion properties which when placed on an x-ray tube rotor, provides at least about 40,000 x-ray scan-seconds prior to tube failure due to rotor spalling.

Emissive coating for x-ray tube rotors

An improved two membered substantially crack-free water jet mixing tube of an abrasive water jet cutting device and a method of its preparation. The method comprises chemically vapor depositing diamond layer on a funnel shaped support member to form an inner member of the mixing tube, separating the inner member from the support member, depositing and then cooling an outer member on the outer side of the inner member to produce a compressive stress on the inner member that substantially prevents formation cracks on the inner member. The inner side of the inner member has a smooth bore having a microcrystalline structure and the outer member has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than diamond. The invention is also directed to a water jet cutting device that incorporates the aforementioned improved substantially crack-free water jet mixing tube.
