Networks and methods are disclosed for synchronizing time stamps of peer devices. In one embodiment, a first communication node comprised of peer devices is connected to a second communication node. The first and second communication nodes communicate according to a protocol that requires monotonically increasing time stamps. When in operation, a peer device transmits a message to the second communication node with a time stamp. If the peer device receives an error response from the second communication node indicating that the time stamp does not comprise an increasing time stamp, then the peer device increases the time stamp. The peer device then transmits the message to the second communication node with the increased time stamp. This process continues each time the peer device receives an error response from the second communication node until the time stamp is increased sufficiently to comprise a monotonically increasing time stamp.

A method, template, protocol, apparatus, system, and computer software for implementing a binary protocol for session initiation in a wireless communications system. The method for creating, modifying or terminating an IP multimedia session among one or more binary session initiation protocol (B-SIP) entities includes providing a flexible template with at least one mandatory field and at least one optional field, wherein the flexible template has fixed and variable length fields, representing a message type with a template id, and maintaining session specific information in a cache. Binary protocol for session initiation in a wireless communications system

In a telecommunications system (), a method and apparatus for buffering the initial speech of an initial speaker in a push-to-talk call is disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining at least one participant or group to call (), sending a call request to the at least one participant or group (), determining if the at least one participant or group is registered with the telecommunications system, notifying the initial speaker to begin speaking after determining at least one participant is registered with the telecommunications system but prior to connecting all called parties, receiving and digitizing voice packets from the initial speaker, storing the digitized data packets in a storage medium and transmitting the digitized voice packets when a predetermined packet transmission triggering event occurs. The apparatus for buffering the initial speech burst of an initial speaker in a call includes a first server () and a second server () communicatively connected to the first server. The second server is programmed to execute the steps of the method described above.
