Systems and methods are provided to enable viewing and computation of differential data for an item or item subset when compared with other items or subsets. A score may be determined for an item or subset where standard deviations and distance metrics are computed to determine differentiators. In one aspect, a system for comparing data items is provided. The system includes a weighting component to determine a score for an item or subset of items. A differentiator component determines a comparison metric for the item or subset of items based in part on a distance metric to at least one other item or subset of items. A user interface can be provided to display the comparison metrics.

A method and system are provided for comparing a focal product with several comparison products. First, selecting a focal product and several attributes relating to the focal product and the comparison products, standardizing and weighting the attributes, and determining for each weighted attribute an attribute score. Next, based on the attribute score, calculating a total score for each comparison product, and based on the total score, presenting to a user or purchaser the comparison products most relevant to the user's criteria.

Method and system for performing searches and returning results based on weighted criteria

A system for manipulating page-breaks in an electronic document. A User Interface Process provides a graphical user interface allowing a user to select a page-break within an electronic document and then identify a new location for the page-break. A System Process performs the steps of moving the selected page-break to the new location and adjusting the scaling and the automatic page-breaks for the remainder of the document to accommodate the page-break at the new location.

Method and system for manipulating page-breaks in an electronic document

A drag-and-drop form displayed directly on a spreadsheet enables a user to drag-and-drop fields to create a PivotTable data display directly on the spreadsheet. Fields of data selected by a user are displayed within a field well (an array) included with a PivotTable Button Bar. The user can select a field with a mouse, drag the selected field over a desired region, and drop the field to insert it in the desired region. The drag-and-drop form identifies a page region, a row region, a column region, and a data region on the spreadsheet. If the data is of the OLAP type, the field well also includes icons indicating whether the fields in rows to the right of the icons are of the dimension type or the measure type. Since the PivotTable Button Bar is optionally displayed on the spreadsheet at all times, the user can readily add a selected field to one of the regions of the PivotTable data display by dragging and dropping the selected field. Changes can also be made to a PivotTable data display by dragging fields within a region or between different regions. Changes in the cursor shape indicate a portion of the PivotTable data display over which a field is currently being dragged.
