Disclosed is a high frequency connector employing a plurality of columns of female contacts for receiving signal carriers and ground/power blades providing shielding between the columns of female contacts. The signal and ground/power blades are coupled to a circuit pack by means of a plurality of flexible circuit sheets. The connector provides full shielding of the signal carriers to the backplane.

High frequency connector

An apparatus for mounting ceramic chip carrier devices onto printed circuit boards. The apparatus includes an adapter assembly with contact terminals, which is positioned and secured by a plastic frame to the circuit board, a washer member containing magnetically aligned electrically conductive particles, and a cover or clip to maintain each contact terminal in engagement with the corresponding conductive particles to electrically couple the adapter assembly and printed circuit board with a chip carrier device. This design incorporates features of both metal and elastomeric contact systems. Alternative apparatus for mounting integrated circuit chips onto printed circuit boards is also disclosed. Such apparatus includes an insulating frame, an elastomeric washer member containing electrically conductive particles, and a cover for holding assemblage together. These designs may require a small number of holes in the circuit board or may provide for surface mounting instead.

Chip carrier mounting apparatus

Apparatus for mounting an integrated circuit module (2) on a printed wiring circuit board (3). The apparatus assembly (1) comprises a ring member (13) for use in assembling a generally rectangular insulating member (11) having a plurality of electrical conducting members (10) positioned therein with a plurality of other insulating members (12) to form quadrilateral configurations of first and second contacts (101, 102) for contacting module terminals (20) and the printed wiring circuit board. A one piece cover (14) engages the ring member to spring clamp the module on the rectangular insulating member and maintain each module terminal in engagement with a corresponding first contact to electrically couple the module with the printed wiring circuit board.

Module mounting assembly

Apparatus for mounting an integrated circuit module (2) on a printed wiring circuit board (3). The apparatus assembly (1) comprises electrical conducting members (10) for interconnecting the module with the circuit board and an insulating base (11) transversely mounting the electrical conducting members to position quadrilateral configurations of first and second spring contacts (102, 105) in planes parallel to top and bottom surfaces of the insulating base. A one piece cover (12, 42) engages the insulating base to spring clamp the module thereon and maintain each module terminal (20) in electrical engagement with a corresponding one of the first and second spring contacts.

An electrical jack is disclosed having an elongated nonconductive housing with a cylindrical opening for receiving a plug having tip, ring, and sleeve members. Corresponding tip, ring, and sleeve spring assemblies are positioned in the housing generally transverse to the cylindrical opening for engagement with the plug members and each assembly has a pair of break contacts which are opened to interrupt circuitry connected thereto, when the plug is fully inserted into the jack opening. The ring spring assembly is further arranged to engage the tip of the plug when the plug is partially inserted. The ring spring assembly positions the plug so that the tip and ring of the plug engage the ring and sleeve spring assemblies of the jack without opening the break contacts. Partial insertion of the plug permits bridging onto the circuit connected to the jack without interrupting the continuity of the circuitry connected through the break contacts.

Electrical jack assembly

Apparatus for mounting a circuit module on a circuit board. The mounting apparatus comprises an insulating base member (10,20) mounting electrical conducting members (102,202) each having a portion (1020,2022) positioned in a plane along side of and parallel to an edge of the base member for contacting a circuit module terminal. A spring housing member (11,21) having a pair of inwardly formed side walls (110,2,10) is provided to spring clamp the circuit module onto the base member and maintain each circuit module terminal in electrical engagement with the contacting surface of a corresponding one of the base mounted conducting members.
