A method, network node and wireless device are provided in which a method in the network node for switching between different numerologies supported by the network node includes determining at least one parameter that can be used by the network node for switching between a first signal operating with a first numerology and a second signal operating with a second numerology; switching between the first signal and the second signal based on the at least one parameter; and after the switching, operating at least one of the first signal and the second signal between the network node and a second node.

A method, resource manager, and computer program performed by a resource manager in a communications network connected to at least two hosts for enabling of resource component allocation related to the hosts, comprising determining a metric of a resource component for performance monitoring of an application at the hosts, transmitting an instruction to measure the metric to respective host, receiving a respective resource frame of the application from respective host, determining resource allocation for the application based on the received resource frames.

Methods, nodes and computer program for enabling of resource component allocation

A packet switching node is coupled by links to other nodes of a network, and receives and assembles packets belonging to a specified packet flow, into bursts of packets with a burst control packet indicating a sequence of the burst in the flow. The node determines whether to distribute the flow across several links. If so, the bursts are then forwarded for switching to the output ports of the selected links. Distributing the flow over multiple links can enable more flexible and efficient filling of allocated bandwidth on links, as traffic increases. To reduce the risk of losing the order of packets the sequence of the bursts is indicated for use in reordering at intermediate nodes during transmission through the network.

Switching node with load balancing of bursts of packets

A packet forwarding node of a transport network performs a first packet forwarding mode in which received packets are processed and forwarded on a per-packet basis. The forwarding node performs a second packet forwarding mode when the node identifies a group of consecutive packets. The group of packets are destined for the same destination node of the transport network. The second packet forwarding mode comprises determining a forwarding treatment for the group of packets and forwarding the group of packets with the determined treatment. The forwarding is performed without processing the headers of at least some of the packets in the group. The group of consecutive packets is identified by a control packet preceding the group or by inter-packet signalling which indicates that the packet before the inter-packet signalling and the packet after the inter-packet signalling are to be treated as part of the same group. Packets which are determined to be received on transit channels can be forwarded without processing headers of individual packets.

Packet forwarding node

An optical communications network node () comprising an optical transmitter module (), an optical receiver module (), an electrical cross-point switch () and control apparatus (). The optical transmitter module () comprises optical sources () each having a different operating wavelength and each being selectively assignable as an optical circuit switching channel source or an optical burst switching channel source. The electrical cross-point switch () comprises switch paths () and is configurable to allocate a first set of switch paths for optical circuit switching and a second set of switch paths for optical burst switching. A method and a connection admission control module are described herein for controlling the admission of a connection in a wireless communication system between a base station and a subscriber unit, in which a modulation and coding scheme of uplink and downlink communications can be varied over time. In addition, a base station is described herein that incorporates the connection admission control module.

Optimized connection admission control for systems using adaptive modulation and coding techniques

A method of determining the position of the split between uplink and downlink bandwidth, in a point of multipoint radio access system with time division duplex scheme comprising a certain number of user terminals and a base station has been disclosed, wherein there are at least two quality of service classes, a first class for guaranteed services (RT) and a second class for not-guaranteed/best effort services (BE). The MAC layer evaluates and controls a further movement of the split&#x2014;as that initially determined by a Call Admission Control (CAC)&#x2014;according to the behavior of uplink and downlink not-guaranteed/best effort queues observed during a certain observation period.
