A solenoidal magnet section has a high-temperature-superconductor tape wound in a solenoidal manner in a main winding chamber of a coil former. Two joints, each from the HTS tape to a follow-on superconductor, are integrated in the magnet section. The terminal sections of the HTS tape and the associated follow-on superconductor are each wound onto the coil former and connected to one another in a laminar manner. The regions of the first and second joint are axially offset from each other and the main winding chamber. The magnet section occupies a radial range with limits less than 20% larger than the outer radius of the main HTS winding package and less than 20% smaller than the inner radius of the coil former in the region of the main winding chamber. A plurality of magnet sections can be inserted one inside the other to form a magnet coil assembly.

A superconducting magnet assembly with a reinforced coil region () having a layered conductor coil assembly () forming cylindrical conductor layers (, . . . ), each having plural circular conductor turns () centered around and aligned along the axis of cylindrical symmetry (z). The reinforced coil region further includes a layered corset coil assembly () having an inner radius bigger than an outer radius of the layered conductor coil assembly (), and a corset sheet assembly () including a foil element forming a corset sheet (, . . . ). A cross section of the corset sheet with any plane perpendicular to the z-axis forms a segmented circle centered around the z-axis, the radius of which is bigger than that of one of the conductor layers and smaller than that of another of the conductor layers. In addition, the segmented circle covers at least 90% of a full circle but has at most four segments. The assembly provides mechanical reinforcement against radial magnetic forces.

Reinforcement of a superconducting magnet coil

A superconductive magnet coil assembly includes a layer-wound coil that is cylindrically symmetric, wherein the rectangular coil cross section of the coil has a first rectangular portion ('&#x2033;) within the coil cross section, and at least one second rectangular portion (&#x2032;&#x2033;) and third rectangular portion (&#x2032;&#x2033;) within the first portion which spans the first portion completely in the radial direction and in part in the axial direction, the second portion being completely wound with the first strip-like superconductor, and the third portion being completely wound with the second strip-like superconductor, and the strip-like superconductors being guided into a region outside the coil cross section and being electrically connected there, and wherein the second and the third rectangular portions are disjunct.

Superconductive magnet coil assembly comprising a plurality of layer-wound strip-like superconductors

A layer wound magnet coil includes a central coil region and end coil regions adjoining the central coil region along an axial line of symmetry. The central coil region includes layers of coil windings of an anisotropic material. The end coil regions include layers of coil windings of the anisotropic superconducting material interspersed with layers of non-superconducting material.

A method for charging a magnet arrangement having a superconducting tape conductor with a first transition temperature in a cryostat device. The magnet arrangement is temperature-controlled to a first pre-operating temperature between the first transition temperature and the operating temperature, a first pre-operating current is excited, the magnet arrangement is cooled to operating temperature and a first operating current is excited. The magnet arrangement has a second magnet winding composed of a second superconductor material with a second transition temperature above the operating temperature and at least 15 K below the first transition temperature, wherein a second operating current in the second magnet winding is excited at the latest after cooling of the magnet arrangement to the operating temperature, and with the second operating current the second magnet winding generates a second operating magnetic field in the volume of the first magnet winding.

Method for energizing a superconducting magnet arrangement

A magnet coil system () which is at least partially superconducting at a cryogenic temperature, comprising at least two partial coils () which are connected in series and are each bridged by a superconducting switch (), such that the partial coils form independent electric loops () when the superconducting switches () are closed, is characterized in that two electric loops () have a common section and a flux pump () is provided which is circuited in the common section () of the electric loops () of two partial coils (), wherein the sum of the currents of the two partial coils () flows through the flux pump () in the operating state. In this fashion, the drifts of two independent electric loops can be compensated for with a few devices.

A magnet system of this type has an optimum stable, temporally constant magnetic field in the working volume (V).
