A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for handling a Conditional Handover (CHO) from a first cell to a second cell in a wireless communications network. The UE is served by a Master Node (MN), in the first cell and by a Secondary Node (SN) in a third cell. The UE receives a CHO configuration from the first network node acting as the MN. The CHO configuration includes an indication to release configurations of any one or more out of: Multi Radio Access Technology Dual Connectivity (MR-DC), and SN terminated bearers. Upon execution of the CHO according to the CHO configuration, the UE releases the MR-DC configuration and/or a configuration for SN terminated bearers.

A method for inter-Radio Access Technology (RAT) handover comprises preparing, at a target node, a reconfiguration message based on that the target node is inter-RAT and intra-system to a source node, and sending, to the source node, the reconfiguration message for forwarding the reconfiguration message to a user equipment (UE). The reconfiguration message comprises configuration for reconfiguring lower layer at the UE and further keeps the UE from reconfiguring upper-layer configuration. The target node disclosed in the method prepares a reconfiguration message specific to different types of RAT combination and system between the source node and the target node to provide loss-less and in-order data delivery during and after the handover.

Method for inter-radio access technology handover

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. The example method further includes, in the same wireless device, receiving, in a first subframe, a first Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission formatted according to a first numerology and receiving, in a second subframe, a second OFDM transmission formatted according to a second numerology, the second numerology differing from the first numerology. Variants of this method, corresponding apparatuses, and corresponding network-side methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

According to certain embodiments, a target network node for communicating with a user equipment (UE) that was previously in communication with a source network node, comprises an interface operably coupled to processing circuitry. The interface is configured to receive a connection resume request from the user equipment, wherein the connection resume request comprises a resume identification associated with the source network node. The processing circuitry is configured to determine that the UE was previously in communication with the source network node. The interface is further configured to transmit the connection resume request to the source network node, receive a radio resource control (RRC) response from the source network node, and forward the RRC response to the UE.

A wireless device () receives a control message () that indicates a nested conditional configuration (). The nested conditional configuration () includes an outer conditional configuration (-) and an inner conditional configuration (-). A method, performed by a wireless device, is disclosed. The method is for managing radio resources in the wireless device and comprises receiving a message configuring a radio bearer for use by the wireless device, checking the message for a ciphering configuration setting enabling or disabling ciphering for the radio bearer, and performing at least one of enabling or disabling ciphering for the radio bearer in accordance with the received message. Also disclosed are a method performed by a base station for configuring radio resources for use by a wireless device, a wireless device, a user equipment and a base station.

Configuring radio resources

A method is performed by a wireless device (). The method comprises detecting a failure associated with a cell group in multi-connectivity operation. The method also comprises, responsive to detecting the failure, suspending monitoring of one or more trigger conditions whose fulfillment is to trigger execution of a conditional configuration () stored at the wireless device ().

Handling of stored conditional configuration in a wireless communication network

An example wireless device () in a dormant state improves its selection of a camping cell by accounting for multi-cell configurations. Among other things, a multi-cell configuration may improve throughput between a wireless communication network () and the wireless device (), based on the network () serving the wireless device () from two or more cells (). By camping on a cell () that belongs to a multi-cell configuration that is possible for the wireless device (), the wireless device () reduces the time and signaling needed to establish that multi-cell configuration, upon the wireless device () connecting to the network () via the camping cell. Accounting for multi-cell configurations may be done jointly, along with accounting for conventional priorities, such as conventionally-prioritized frequencies and Radio Access Technologies (RATs) and may be incorporated into the ranking of cells () based on per-cell radio-signal measurements.

Method and apparatus for cell selection in a wireless communication network

A method, network node and wireless device for an overheating configuration in NG EN-DC are disclosed. According to one aspect, a wireless device configured to communicate with a master node configured to operate using a first radio access technology, RAT, and to communicate a secondary node configured to operate using a second RAT is provided. The wireless device is configured to determine an overheating configuration for the wireless device, and indicate the overheating configuration using at least: a first indication associated with both the first RAT operation and second RAT operation; and a second indication associated with only one of the first RAT operation and second RAT operation.

A Master Node (MN)and a method therein for handling of a Secondary Cell Group (SCG) for a UEoperable in a dual connectivity mode with the MN and a Secondary Node (SN)operating in a network. A Master Cell Group (MCG) is 5 associated with the MN and the SCG is associated with the SN. The MN decides to perform a first operation relating to a suspension or a resumption of the SCG independently from a second operation relating to a suspension or a resumption of the MCG. The MN transmits, to the UE, an indication indicating the first operation and indicating the second operation. Further, the MN transmits, to the SN, an indicationindicating the first operation relating to the suspension or the resumption of the SCG.

Master node, a secondary node, a user equipment and methods therein for handling of a secondary cell group (SCG)

Embodiments herein relate, e.g., to a method performed by a wireless device for handling communication in a wireless communication network. The wireless device transmits to a radio network node, a first preamble associated with a selected downlink beam. The wireless device further monitors for a random access response, RAR, in a first RAR reception window and when the RAR is not received in the first RAR reception window, monitors for the RAR in a second RAR reception window of a different beam or to transmit, to the radio network node, a second preamble associated with a second beam wherein the first preamble is associated with a channel state information reference signal and the second preamble is associated with a synchronization signal block.

Radio network node, wireless device, and methods for performing random access in a wireless communication network

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for enabling reporting of a subset of measurements performed by a wireless device when in an idle or inactive state to a cellular communications network. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless device for reporting measurements to a cellular communications network comprises performing measurements while in an idle or inactive state, storing the measurements, determining a subset of the measurements to be reported by the wireless device, and reporting the determined subset of the measurements to the cellular communications network. In this manner, only desired measurements can be reported, which reduces the amount of information that needs to be reported by the wireless device.

Granular request for early measurement reporting

Systems and methods for handling a wireless device in a Configuration Management (CM)-Connected state with Radio Resource Control (RRC) Inactive state are provided. In some embodiments, a method for performing a mobility transfer from a Fifth Generation network to an Evolved Packet System (EPS) network includes a 5G network node: receiving, from an EPS network node, a context request for context associated with a User Equipment (UE); determining data forwarding information associated with the UE; and sending, to the EPS network node, a context response comprising context information associated with the UE and data forwarding information associated with the UE. In this way, packet losses will be minimized leading to improved end user performance.

Handling of UE in CM-connected state with RRC inactive state

The present disclosure provides procedures for early synchronization based on Idle mode measurements to enable fast connection establishment and resumption on transition to a Connected mode. When transitioning () to a Connected state, the UE selects one or more cells/frequencies for which in addition to the target cell configured/activated by the network to initiate early synchronization () prior to transition to the Connected state. When the UE receives () a message from the network requiring the UE to synchronize with a target cell in a target frequency, the UE determines () if the message from the network indicates that the UE shall configure or add a target cell, that is not the PCell, for which the UE has synchronized and, if so, uses the synchronization information to initiate () a random access procedure towards the target cell configured/activated by the network.

A wireless device () receives a control message () indicating a conditional configuration (-) that the wireless device () is to add, modify, or release for a link ().
