A method for sharing user equipment state estimates between nodes within a wireless communication network comprises initiating of transmission of at least one of obtained user equipment kinematic state estimate information and obtained user equipment type state estimate information to a receiving network node as a response to an obtained indication of a need for sharing user equipment state estimates. The obtained user equipment kinematic state estimate information comprising a latest kinematic state update time, as well as mode state vector estimates, mode covariance matrices and mode probabilities for at least one user equipment kinematic mode. The obtained user equipment type state estimate information comprising a latest type state update time and a type state probability estimate. A method for receiving and propagating the user equipment state estimates, and devices for both methods are also disclosed.

Sharing of user equipment states

A method performed by a first communication device for managing beamforming by a second communication device for transmission of a signal. The first and second communication devices operate in a wireless communications network having a zone in which a radio frequency electromagnetic field strength is required by a regulation to be below a threshold. The first communication device adjusts at least one of an output power and a beam shape in the beamforming. The adjusting is such that the radio frequency electromagnetic field strength in the zone for the output power and the beam shape in the beamforming is below the threshold. The first communication device initiates transmission of the signal to a third communication device operating in the wireless communications network using beamforming with the adjusted at least one of the output power and the beam shape.

First communication device and methods performed thereby for managing beamforming by a second communication device for transmission of a signal

A node in a wireless communication system comprising an antenna array with at least a first antenna function and a second antenna function. The node further comprises a first radio chain and a second radio chain, where each antenna function is connected to a base band via a corresponding radio chain. Each radio chain comprises an oscillator, a splitter and a multiplexer, each oscillator being arranged to feed a signal with a unique frequency band to the splitter in the same radio chain. The splitter is arranged to divide the signal into at least two signal parts and feed each part to the multiplexer of each radio chain such that each multiplexer in the node receives signal parts from each splitter in the node. The splitter is arranged to weight the division of the signal into the signal parts in dependence of the frequency bands fed by each oscillator.

Antenna architecture for maintaining beam shape in a reconfigurable antenna

The invention discloses a transceiver () for use in a cellular communications system (), arranged to communicate with at least one other transceiver in the system by means of technology for Multiple Input Multiple Output, MIMO. The transceiver is also arranged to control the function of a repeater () which is arranged to forward communication between the transceiver and said at least one other transceiver, said control being carried out as a result of measured performance parameters of the communication between the transceiver and said at least one other transceiver. In one embodiment, the function in the repeater () which the transceiver is arranged to control comprises activation and deactivation of the repeater.

In a method of controlling downlink transmitting power and antenna coverage of base stations in a communication system, the system comprising a plurality of base stations and a plurality of user equipment each associated with at least one of the plurality of base stations, providing (S) interference and noise information for each of at least a subset of the plurality of user equipment. Subsequently, identifying (S) at least one interfering base station for at least one user equipment of the subset, and jointly analyzing (S) the provided interference and noise information for the subset together with the identified at least one interfering base station. Finally, jointly adapting (S) a transmitting power level and/or an antenna beam of the at least one identified interfering base stations based on the analysis, to provide reduced power consumption and increased coverage in the communication system.

Method and arrangement for reducing interference and enhancing coverage

The invention discloses a repeater () for a cellular communications system (), the repeater () comprising at least a first antenna with a first and a second antenna beam (). The repeater () is arranged to shape at least one of its antenna beams () electronically, so as to focus that antenna beam () on a first transmitting party () in the system () while minimizing interference from other transmission sources ().

Methods and a preprocessing proxy server in a communication system can support any mode of web browser operation and enable a user selectively to bypass or enable the proxy server's translation of requested web content. For example, a translation selection decision can be made based on the requested content (e.g., active HTML) or user input. Selection is made between the original representation of a web page and a translated one, i.e., a representation that is adapted to one or more characteristics of the receiving device, such as a smaller screen, lower screen resolution, low communication bandwidth, etc. The decision on whether to translate is preferably made by a proxy server in the network, and the decision is based on one or more of the following criteria: requested-page content, user preferences, and statistics. An advantage of interposing a proxy server in this arrangement is that all web servers can remain unchanged.

Proxy server

An antenna arrangement comprising an input/output connection and a first and a second tuning network with different transfer functions. The arrangement additionally comprises an antenna and a switch for connecting the input/output connection of the arrangement to one of said tuning networks, with a second switch for connecting the antenna of the arrangement to the tuning network to which the input/output connection of the arrangement has been connected. The arrangement comprises a sensor for sensing a form factor of the arrangement or of an apparatus in which the arrangement is used, and said sensor can be used for influencing said first and second switches, so that a device which has been connected to the arrangement may be connected to the antenna via a tuning network optimal for the current form factor of the arrangement.

Antenna switching arrangement

An electronic device () comprising an antenna arrangement with first and second antenna groups with first () and a second () radiation elements. The first and second radiation elements in each group have first and second respective polarizations and gain, and said groups also comprise a beam forming network () connected to the radiation elements of the group and to an output selector (). The beam forming network () of each antenna group uses the radiation elements () in the group to create a radiation pattern () with a polarization which is a composite of the first and second polarizations of the elements in the group, so that a first () and a second () radiation pattern of composite polarization is created. The output selector () selects or combines signals received by the two antenna groups as its output.
