A system and method provide for the selective authorization and admission of a client into a data sharing session with a host. A host may select one or more clients into the sharing session based on the proximity of the clients. When a client is selected, an identifier is provided from the client device to the host device, for example, utilizing an optical identifier such as a bar code or an audible identifier such as an encoded sound. The identifier is then utilized to establish a link between the client and the host. In this fashion any number of client devices may be selectively admitted into the sharing session in a quick and easy process enabling security for the host and anonymity for the client.

Various aspects directed towards automating an onboarding procedure are disclosed. In a first aspect, an administrative communication associated with onboarding an onboardable device is received by an access point (AP) device, such that the administrative communication originates from a device different than the onboardable device. The AP device then enables the onboardable device to access a secure network based on the administrative communication. In another aspect, an identifier is transmitted from an onboardable device while the onboardable device operates in an AP mode. The onboardable device then receives credentials associated with accessing a secure network via an AP device. Here, the credentials received from the AP device are in response to an authentication of the identifier by an administrator. The onboardable device then connects to the secure network by utilizing the credentials.

Apparatuses and methods for fast onboarding an internet-enabled device

Methods, systems, and devices are described for adjusting at least one channel parameter based on accessed historical channel information associated with mobility patterns of a mobile device. In some examples, a mobile device or a base station may access historical channel information associated with mobility patterns of the mobile device or another mobile device. The mobility patterns may include information relative to a particular time and location of a mobile device, a previously traveled route by a mobile device, etc. Based on the historical channel information associated with the mobility patterns, the mobile device or the base station may adjust a channel parameter to improve communication performance across the particular channel.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for predicting a current random access transmission power detectable by a base station based on historical transmission power information. Systems and methods for scalable discovery in contention-based peer-to-peer (P2P) networks are described herein. A method for managing access to a contention-based broadcast channel in a P2P wireless communication network as described herein includes obtaining one or more system timing parameters, the system timing parameters including at least a collision probability tolerance; and configuring a time structure for access to the contention-based broadcast channel using the system timing parameters, wherein the wakeup intervals are allocated between a contention period and a non-contention period and configuring the time structure comprises setting an upper-bound backoff counter value associated with the contention period as a function of at least the collision probability tolerance.
