Disclosed is a method and access management entity for selecting a session management (SM) entity for serving a wireless communication device (WCD) in a core network that comprises an access management entity serving the WCD and an anchor SM entity that controls a first user plane entity that handles a data session associated with the WCD in a first domain, and a second SM entity for controlling a second user plane entity in a second domain of the core network. The method is performed by the access management entity and comprises selecting&#x2014;based on WCD information and SM domain information&#x2014;the second SM entity as an additional intermediate SM entity to control a user plane entity in the second domain for handling the data session in the second domain; requesting the second SM entity to act as the additional intermediate SM; and receiving a session response message.

Methods and apparatuses for selecting a session management entity for serving a wireless communication device

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a SMF, for handling local breakout of traffic. The SMF receives, from a PCF, policy information indicating traffic that should be routed via a second UPF to a second DN. The SMF provides, to a first UPF, a first traffic detection filter for detecting the traffic indicated in the received policy information. The SMF detects that there is traffic matching the first traffic detection filter. The SMF sets up, according to the policy information, a local breakout to the second UPF when the matching traffic has been detected. The setting-up comprises setting-up the second UPF.

Methods and functions for handling local breakout

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a SMF () for handling traffic for an application (). The SMF () receives, from an AF (), a plurality of candidate locations () for the application () and traffic routing information for the application () for each of the plurality of locations (). The SMF () determines that the SMF () is allowed to steer traffic for the application () to a selected one of the plurality of locations. The SMF () selects one of the candidate locations () among the plurality () received from the AF (), and steers the traffic for the application () to the selected candidate location ().

Method and function for handling traffic for an application

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a first node () for handling Quality of Service, QoS, information. The first node () receives information for a 5G QoS flow from a second node (). The information comprises 5G or 4G QoS information, or both 5G and 4G QoS information, or priority information. The first node () determines whether there are any available 4G bearer IDs. When there are no available 4G bearer IDs, the first node () determines an action for handling the information.

Method and node for handling QoS information

This invention is related to S8 Home Routing (S8HR), under specification by the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Association (GSMA) and 3Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). In a first aspect of the invention, a method is provided for enabling Lawful Interception (LI) when a wireless communication terminal performs S8HR roaming. A method for default bearer translation with GBR bearer translation. A GBR bearer is known in UE, 5G-RAN, and SMFs from the existing QoS flow parameters from one or more QoS flows for a PDU session that includes an assigned value for guaranteed bit rate. In case a PDU session has multiple associated QoS flows that each include an assigned value for GBR, then each flow is determined as a candidate GBR bearer for the target E-UTRAN access. Each GBR bearer candidate is arranged in a priority order based on, for example, the QoS flow parameters (e.g., ARP), and the resulting EPS QCI when translating QoS flow parameters in 5G to a 4G representation. Hence common priority rules for 1:1 mapping between 5G representation and 4G representation can be used by the nodes having knowledge of the PDU session and the QoS flows characterized as GBR QoS flows.

A method of handing over a User Equipment, UE, from a first type of Radio Access Technology, RAT, to a second type of RAT, wherein said UE is attached to a core network via a Radio Access Network, RAN, utilizing said first type of RAT, said method comprising the steps of receiving, by a Mobility Management node in said core network from a network function in said core network, an indication that a particular service is to be invoked for said UE, determining, by said Mobility Management node, that said UE is to be handed over from said first type of RAT to said second type of RAT for supporting said particular service and requesting, by said Mobility Management node, said RAN to hand over said UE from said first RAT to said second RAT.

The application relates to a method for operating a first radio access nodeof a first packet switched mobile communications network. The first radio access node receives a request for establishing a data packet session requiring a defined quality of service and determines that the data packet session cannot be handled by the first packet switched communications network. The first radio access node triggers a hand over to a second packet switched mobile communications network based on the determining and transmits an indication towards a mobile entity () involved in the data packet session indicating that a resource for the data packet session will be available when the handover is completed.

A method performed in a user equipment, UE, () and a gateway () for data communication in aGPP network via an access point name, APN, capable of providing support for packet data network, PDN, connectivity using a first internet protocol version and PDN connectivity using a second internet protocol version. A node comprises a receiver (), configured to receive a plurality of preliminary responses originating from a plurality of terminating end points as part of Session Initiation Protocol, SIP, forking. The node comprises an early dialog controller (), configured, for each received preliminary response, to determine a unique identifier and to control a transmitting means, which may be a transmitter (), to transmit a corresponding preliminary message comprising the unique identifier to a further node () for use as a Policy and Charging Rules Function, PCRF (), for creating an early dialog by the further node. The receiver is further configured to receive updated data for at least one of the preliminary responses. The node further comprises an updated dialog controller () configured to retrieve the unique identifier corresponding to the at least one preliminary response and control the transmitter to transmit an updating message based on the updated data and comprising the retrieved unique identifier to the further node for updating the corresponding early dialog.

Policy control in session initiation protocol forking

The present disclosure generally relates to aspects of applying policy and charging rules to bearers in a communication network. The policy and charging rules are provided for application to at least a dedicated bearer. The technique presented herein may be implemented in connection with a mobile terminal moving between an access point of a first type supporting default and dedicated bearers and an access point of a second type supporting default and not supporting dedicated bearers. A method embodiment of the present disclosure removes an established dedicated bearer and temporarily suspends application of the rules to the dedicated bearer upon a move from an access point of the first type to an access point of the second type. A network endpoint of an ongoing session kept agnostic of the removal of the dedicated bearer. Upon a move from the access point of the second type to an access point of the first type, the dedicated bearer is re-established and the rules are re-applied to the re-established dedicated bearer.
