A mounting rail for an input/output module of an information handling system is disclosed. The mounting rail includes a main portion, first and second railings, a non-threaded channel, and a threaded engagement. The main portion includes first, second, third, and fourth surfaces. The first and second surfaces intersect at a first edge of the first surface. The first railing extends from the first edge of the first surface. The second railing extends from a second edge of the first surface. The non-threaded channel extends from the second surface through the main portion to the third surface. The threaded engagement is secured to the second surface of the main portion, and is aligned with the non-threaded channel. The threaded engagement is located along a third edge at the intersection between the second surface and the fourth surface, and the third edge is distal from the first edge.

Space efficient rail design for rear input/output modules

Cable channel apparatus are provided that may be employed for routing system cables through open spaces defined within chassis walls, barriers or other fixed surfaces that separate different compartments or areas of an information handling system chassis. The cable channel apparatus may form a seal around the inserted system cables that prevents recirculation of cooling air through the open spaces between the different compartments. In one example, the cable channel apparatus may be employed to form such a seal around system cables that are routed through an open space to pass though or around a fan gantry that is mounted within a chassis of an information handling system chassis.

A baffle is provided that is usable in an information handling system. The information handling system may have a first compartment at a first elevated pressure that is higher than an ambient pressure and a second compartment at a second elevated pressure that is higher than the ambient pressure. Further, a region adjacent to the first and second compartments and in fluid communication therewith may be operable to receive a removable baffle therein. When the baffle is inserted into the region, it may be operable to maintain the region at a third elevated pressure that is higher than the ambient pressure. However, when not inserted into the region, the baffle may be foldable into a substantially flat shape.

An information handling system includes a peripheral interface and a frame that is operable to receive an Open Compute Project (OCP) module. The frame includes a peripheral slot that provides an electrical communication between the OCP module and the peripheral interface when the OCP module is disposed at a first position. A lock controls the ejection of the OCP module from the first position to a second position, and disengages from the OCP module at the second position.

A chassis foot apparatus includes a base member. A resilient member is coupled to the base member. At least one post extends from the base member. The at least one post is deformable into engagement with a chassis to couple the base member and the resilient member to the chassis.

An antenna assembly includes a antenna carrier having an antenna module receiving region. The antenna module includes an antenna and a radio frequency transceiver coupled to the antenna. The antenna carrier includes a passive tuning element situated adjacent to the module receiving region, the element exhibiting a length selected to cause the antenna to resonate at a predetermined frequency when the antenna module is placed in the module receiving region.

A support foot is mechanically fastened to an information handling system chassis with a coupling device partially embedded in the support foot through injection molding of the support foot over the coupling device. For instance the coupling device is a staple made of ductile metal having a body embedded in the support foot and two legs extending outward towards the chassis side of the support foot. The legs insert in openings at a chassis attachment point and bend to secure the support foot to the chassis. For instance, the staple legs are formed from a ductile metal, such as brass, aluminum or steel, that is bent by hand or by a machine to a closed staple shape.

System and method for mechanically fastened information handling system foot

In a method and system for detachably docking a portable device to a docking device, the docking device is placed on a stable surface. The docking device includes a pair of moveable rear latches and moveable front latches, which are operable to latch on to corresponding matching slots of the portable device when docked. The portable device is aligned vertically on top of the docking device. A vertical force is applied on the portable device. When properly aligned a pair of alignment pins included in the docking device mate with corresponding notches on the portable device when the two devices are docked. A release latch on the docking device is operable to undock the two devices.

Vertical docking method and system

A computer keyboard includes a base having a user surface. A keyboard is mounted on the user surface. The keyboard includes a support plate having a first surface and a second surface. The second surface is convex and abuts the base. A plurality of keyboard keys are mounted adjacent the first surface. Attachment tabs are provided on the support plate to secure the support plate to the base which biases the convex surface into continuous contact with the base.
