The invention concerns to the use, as an agent improving the thermal stability of (meth)acrylic comb polymers of a macromonomer whose formula (I) is:R-(A-O)&#x2014;(B&#x2014;O)&#x2014;R'&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)wherein both m and n are non-zero and A and B designate alkyl groups having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, but different from one another. The invention further pertains to the implementation of the polymers obtained, as agents improving the thermal stability of the plastic compositions that contain them.

The invention resides in the use, as an agent reducing the viscosity of a thermoplastic or thermosetting paste filled with a calcium carbonate, of a calcium carbonate characterized in that it is obtained by dry-grinding, firstly, and in that it is dry-ground in the presence of a grinding aid agent which is a copolymer of (meth)acrylic acid with a monomer containing an alcoxy or hydroxy polyalkyleneglycol group, secondly. The invention firstly concerns the use as a compatibilizing agent, in a process to manufacture a chlorinated thermoplastic resin filled with a mineral material, of a comb polymer having at least one anionic monomer with ethylenic unsaturation, to which is grafted at least one polyalkylene oxide group. The invention also concerns the chlorinated thermoplastic materials thus obtained, which have an improved compatibility between the filler and the chlorinated thermoplastic resin, whilst reducing the quantity of compatibilizing agents as used in the chlorinated and filled thermoplastic materials according to the prior art, where the said compatibilizing agents used in the prior art were essentially fatty acids, and more specifically stearic acid or its salts.

The invention relates to the selection of a natural calcium carbonate crushed to a high degree of fineness, possibly treated with one or more fatty acids or one or more of their salts or mixtures thereof, and its use as a rheology regulator for polymeric compositions. The specific surface area is 14 to 30 m/g measured according to the BET method to ISO 4652, and the oil absorption is greater than 16 measured according to ISO 787-V (Rub-out method). The present invention relates to a method of dispersing or treating a mineral filler into a thermoplastic resin; the dispersing agent or agent for treatment of a mineral filler is a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer, having an weight average molecular weight preferably between 1000 to 3000; the thermoplastic resin is selected from (a) a hydrocarbon homopolymer without an aryl group, (b) a copolymer without an aryl group, and with a molecule comprised of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen in which the content of oxygen atoms does not exceed 22% by weight or (c) a mixture of the above described homopolymer and copolymer; the mineral fillers are basic or have surfaces that have free hydroxyl groups.
