A convection cooling system for high-output Light Emitting Diodes in outdoor illumination applications. The cooling system takes advantage of wide-angle LED output so as to allow placement of cooling fins directly on the shaded underside of the molded or extruded support structure. Accordingly, the cooling system provides a relatively large convective surface area with a substantial portion of that surface shaded from solar radiation so as not to collect solar heat during daytime periods while still expelling heat as it is collected from finned portions that are exposed to sunlight and so do collect solar heat.

LED cooler apparatus and method of use

A reflector system having two-axis control through which beam collimation and wide-angle beam overlapping occur, and a method of manufacturing such a system through cutting flat reflective sheeting and forming the resultant flat parts into the three-dimensional reflectors that collect and shape the light from solid state LEDs, wherein each axis may be customized by changing the cutting and bending of the flat pieces.

Light shaping reflector system and method of manufacture and use

A photosensor control unit for use in a lighting module has a light sensor and a switch adapted to operably control a light source such as a plurality of LEDs responsive to the light sensor. The light source is adapted to be mounted in the lighting module, and is configured to produce light having wavelengths within a first range of wavelengths. The light sensor is adapted to be mounted on or about the lighting module, and is responsive to light having wavelengths within a second range of wavelengths. The second range of wavelengths is exclusive of the first range of wavelengths. The switch is adapted to operably control the light source responsive to the light sensor such that the light source emits light having wavelengths within the first range of wavelengths responsive to the presence or absence of light within the second range of wavelengths.

An internally expanding and locking apparatus for installing inside the pipe stub of a typical outdoor lighting pole and expanding with locking teeth to grasp the inner walls of the pipe stub, the apparatus including a swivel base, a clamp screw inserted through the swivel base, a ramp nut passing over the clamp screw so as to be positioned offset from the swivel base, and a mounting nut threadably installed on the clamp screw and configured to engage the ramp nut so as to control the position of the ramp nut relative to the swivel base as the clamp screw is rotated during use of the pipe mounting apparatus.

Automatic vehicle light relay switching system for providing daytime

An automated daytime running light system for surface transport vehicles having headlights and taillights which includes a daytime running light control circuit which activates the highbeam filament of the headlights at a reduced power level whenever the vehicle ignition is ON and the starter motor OFF during daylight conditions. In one embodiment, the daytime running light control circuit activates the high beam filaments of the headlight at a reduced power level and also activates the parking lights to provide taillights whenever the vehicle ignition is ON and the starter motor OFF during daylight conditions. The system further includes a navigational lighting control circuit which is responsive to ambient condition sensor inputs such as low light level sensors, fog or moisture sensors, windshield wiper actuation sensors and the like, to de-activate the daytime running light control circuit and activate the vehicles headlights and taillights and other running lights at normal power levels as long as such sensors are activated or whenever the vehicle headlights are manually activated. The system may further include an emergency brake indicator circuit which turns off the daytime running light and navigational lighting control circuits, and the vehicle headlights and/or taillights controlled thereby, whenever the emergency brake is engaged and may further include an external shut-off circuit for turning off the daytime running light and navigational lighting control circuits, or portions thereof, when activated.

Automated ambient condition responsive daytime running light system

An automatic daytime running light system for a vehicle having an engine, an electric power source, a starter motor circuit for the engine, external running lights including headlights and parking lights, and input switches for ignition circuit and the external running lights, the system being responsive to the input switches and starter motor circuit to automatically control the operation of the external running lights, and the system including digital logic timer circuit means for automatically controlling the operation of the external running lights, and MOSFET output switching devices, which thereby provide high reliability and safety, redundant circuitry to thereby provide a higher level of reliability and fail-safe operation of the system, and MOSFET fault current monitoring circuitry which monitors the drain to source fault currents of the MOSFET output switch means, whereby upon detection of fault currents, the digital logic timer controls a fault current indicator to provide an indication of a fault current condition.

Automatic daytime running light system

A target launcher having multiple throwing arms which are driven by an electronic control assembly to launch each throwing arm sequentially at a predetermined timed interval. The target launcher will accommodate a variety of different kinds of targets to provide the shooting enthusiast, in particular the archer, with an automatically controlled supply of moving targets. Each throwing arm is released from a lock position to impart a substantially vertical trajectory to one or more targets loaded therein. The timing of the release of each throwing arm is preset manually prior to actuation of the control assembly circuitry. Actuation of the control assembly selectively drives a solenoid associated with each throwing arm to effect the sequential release of each throwing arm in accordance with the timing selected. The control assembly is designed to drive only a single solenoid if the release of only a single throwing arm is desired or to be actuated to a multi-mode operational state to drive all of the solenoids and, hence, all of the throwing arms in sequence at the intervals selected. Dual audible signals of different frequencies are provided to signal first the actuation of the electronic control assembly and next the release of each throwing arm.
