A method of secure data transfer and storage using ae storage device storing encrypted information. The method uses a host that stores and transfers encrypted sensitive information and a customer that desires the information to be securely stored. The customer chooses a unique encryption code to encrypt sensitive information and uploads the information to a host. Then the host transfers the information to the storage device. Connections between the host and customer are intermittent and done so the storage device remains isolated from networks outside of the host.

Method of secure data storage and transfer

A method of secure data transfer and storage using a removable storage device storing encrypted information. The method uses a host that stores and transfers encrypted sensitive information and a customer that desires the information to be securely stored. The customer chooses a unique encryption code to encrypt sensitive information and places the encrypted files on the removable storage device, then physically transfers the information to the host. The encrypted sensitive information travels physically between the host and customer outside of any computer network. The host has a gapped area that remains disconnected from any network. The host takes the sensitive information and copies it to the designated armored storage unit.

A data storage enclosure for storing data on digital storage media has a lid that secures to a base. The enclosure has an upper insulating block that is located adjacent the lid and a lower insulating block that is located in the base. Each insulating block has a corresponding cover that overlays and protects its respective block. A storage unit has outer thermal management layers and a center layer located therebetween. The thermal management layers each contain a corresponding heat absorber that absorbs energy and changes from solid to liquid as the temperature of the storage unit begins to rise to excessive temperatures. The center layer contains a digital storage drive that is connected to a flexible cable that is connected to a sacrificial connector. When assembled, the insulating blocks and covers constrain and hold the storage unit and flexible cable.

A microporous insulation material contains an ingredient which exhibits a phase transition and functions to maintain temperatures attained by an object shielded by the microporous insulation material, during exposure of the microporous insulation material to a high temperature environment, at an acceptable level over a given period of time. The insulation material is especially suitable for insulating flight data and voice recorder systems. The microporous insulation material contains inorganic particulate material; endothermic compounds, (optionally) an opacifier, inorganic fiber and preferably, a dry resin or other binder. The inorganic particulate material can comprise only hydrophilic material or both hydrophilic and hydrophobic material.
