The invention relates to a process for hydroconversion of heavy carbon-containing feedstocks that comprises a stage (1) for hydroconversion of the feedstock in at least one reactor that contains a boiling-bed catalyst and then a stage (2) for hydroconversion of at least a portion of the effluent that is obtained in at least one reactor that contains a slurry catalyst.

A process of hydroreforming in the presence of a catalyst containing at least one refractory inorganic carrier, platinum, possibly at least one metal from Group VIII (palladium, nickel, and ruthenium), a halogen or compound thereof, and at least one additional metal M selected from among germanium, tin, lead, gallium, indium, and thallium, process in which said metal M, in the form of at least one organic compound, is introduced in situ into the reactor where the hydrocarbon charge will then be treated or into a prereactor that is connected to said reactor.

Catalytic hydroreforming process

A catalyst is described for selective gas phase hydrogenation of acetylenic compounds containing 2 or 3 carbon atoms to the corresponding ethylenic compounds. The catalyst, in the form of spherules or extrudates, comprises palladium, at least one metal from group IB, optionally at least one alkali or alkaline-earth metal, and alumina, in which at least 80% of the palladium and at least 80% of the element from group IB are present in a volume at the periphery of the catalyst defined between a spherical or cylindrical surface with radius r.sub.1 corresponding to the average radius of the spherules or extrudates of the catalyst and a spherical or cylindrical surface with radius r.sub.2 at least equal to 0.8 r.sub.1, the catalyst having a group IB metal/palladium ratio of 0.4 to 3 by weight. Further, it is advantageous for this catalyst that at least 30% of the metal particles contain both palladium and silver.

Selective hydrogenation catalyst and a process using that catalyst

A process for the selective hydrogenation in the gas phase of acetylene compounds containing 2 or 3 carbon atoms to the corresponding ethylene compounds is described. The process uses a catalyst in the form of spherules or extrudates containing palladium, at least one group IB metal, optionally at least one alkaline or alkaline-earth metal and alumina, in which at least 80% of the palladium and at least 80% of the group IB element are present in a volume at the periphery of the catalyst defined between a spherical or cylindrical surface of radius r.sub.1 corresponding to the average spherule or extrudate diameter and a spherical or cylindrical surface of radius r.sub.2 at least equal to 0.8r.sub.1. More particularly, the catalyst comprises an alumina, palladium in a proportion of 0.01% to 0.5% by weight, and group IB metal in a proportion of 0.001 to 0.02% by weight, with a weight ratio of group IB metal/palladium of 0.05 to 0.25.

An internal combustion engine fuel is produced from a mixture of hydrocarbons comprising olefinic hydrocarbons containing 5 to 8 carbon atoms characterized in that it is produced by a process comprising a) a catalytic etherification step for at least a portion of the etherifiable olefins contained in said hydrocarbon mixture, using at least one alcohol containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, the quantity of alcohol employed being such that the alcohol:etherifiable olefin molar ratio is at least 1:1, and b) a water washing step for the ether-containing product before recovery as a fuel.

The invention concerns an isomerization catalyst comprising 4 to 15% of at least one halogen and at least one metal from group VIII deposited on a support composed of a mixture of specific proportions of eta alumina and gamma alumina. The invention also concerns a process for reducing the benzene content of gasoline fractions and isomerizing paraffins in the presence of this catalyst, in which isomerization is carried out on a mixture of a) a feed with the following composition by weight: 40% to 80% of paraffins, 0.5% to 7% of cyclic hydrocarbons and 6% to 45% of aromatics, and with a maximum distillation temperature of between 70.degree. C. and 90.degree. C., and b) a C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cut which is generally a straight run cut.

Process for reducing the benzine content of petrols

The invention concerns a process for the elimination of mercury from hydrocarbons by passage of the feedstock with hydrogen over a catalyst then bringing the product obtained into contact with a mercury retention bed, the catalyst comprising at least one element selected from the group constituted by iron, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, tungsten, palladium, wherein at least 5% is in the sulphide state. Any arsenic present in the feedstock is also eliminated. In accordance with the invention, the catalyst is simultaneously presulphurated and reduced. The invention results in a considerable reduction in operation period and high retention efficiency at temperatures between 120.degree. C. and 250.degree. C. and in the presence of 0-1000 mg of sulphur/kg of feed.

The invention concerns a process for reducing the benzene content of petrol fractions, in which hydrogenation is carried out on a feed with the following composition by weight: 40% to 80% of paraffins, 0.5% to 7% of cyclic hydrocarbons and 6% to 45% of aromatics, and with a maximum distillation temperature of between 70.degree. C. and 90.degree. C., followed by isomerisation of the effluent from the hydrogenation step, mixing said feed and/or said effluent with a C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cut; said process being characterised in that an isomerisation catalyst is used which contains chlorine and at least one group VIII metal deposited on a support composed of a mixture of specific proportions of eta alumina and gamma alumina.

Process for reducing the benzene content of petrols

The invention concerns a process for the isomerisation of less substituted olefins to more substituted external olefins and/or internal olefins in the absence of diolefins, in the presence of a palladium based catalyst deposited on a support. Before loading it into the reactor, said catalyst is treated with at least one sulphur-containing compound which is dissolved in a solvent then activated in a neutral or reducing atmosphere between 20.degree. C. and 300.degree. C., 1 and 50 bars and with a VVH of 50 to 600 h.sup.-1.
