Devices and systems supporting more than one Virtual Assistant (VA) are able to initiate and collaborate with multiple virtual assistants within the same session and at the same time. This system allows application specific virtual assistants to register and listen for intents from a general purpose virtual assistant. When the general purpose virtual assistant raises an intent, control can be passed to an interested application specific virtual assistant for handling. The system of registering new intents increases the knowledge of the general purpose virtual assistant, or overloads the handling of an existing intent.

Session processing interaction between two or more virtual assistants

The present invention provides a system and method enabling telephony service subscribers to activate, deactivate, make service changes, and access call-related information from telephony services provided by a telephony service provider. According to one aspect, the service management system of the present invention interacts with subscriber terminals connected to a public data network. The service management system receives requests from subscriber terminals and converts the requests into a format compatible with terminal emulation programs, such as the Telnet protocol, running on end office switches. Using the converted request information, the requested service changes are made or the requested call-related information is collected by the end office switches with little or no intervention by service provider personnel.

Remote telephony service management

An embodiment according to the invention provides automatic discovery, via Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Voice Biometrics, of the identification of a caller, when the caller is making a phone call from, for example, a residential line. The caller may, for example, initiate a phone call by voice request to a computer or other device. The device initiates the call, but rather than using the conventional technique of determining Calling Name via lookup to the Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP) database, the embodiment uses a technique of ASR in tandem with voice or other biometrics to recognize who within the residence is making the call, and to use the name associated with the requesting caller's voiceprint for determining the Calling Name to display to the called party. Other forms of biometrics, such as image biometrics (e.g., facial or iris biometrics), may alternatively be employed.

System and method for biometric identification of a call originator

The present invention provides a system and method enabling telephony service subscribers to access and use call-related information associated with telephony services. In one aspect, the present invention allows telephony service subscribers to access call-related information stored by telephony network nodes through use of service subscriber terminals connected to a telephony service provider server. In another aspect, both the subscriber terminals and the service provider server are connected to, and communicate through, a public data network. The service provider server is also disposed to communicate with various nodes of a telephony network using various telephony signaling protocols. In another aspect, the present invention receives requests to activate or deactivate telephony services from subscriber terminals and converts the requests into a format compatible with the telephony network nodes. In another aspect, the present invention allows service subscribers to place calls using call-related information received from the service information management system.

Telephony service information management system

The present invention allows a subscriber to dynamically select one or more call processing options while an attempt to terminate an incoming call to an associated terminal is being made. As such, the terminal is either ringing or providing some other indication that an incoming call is being received. Throughout the process, the incoming call may be answered via the terminal. While the attempt to terminate the call is being made, an incoming call message is sent to a computing device associated with the subscriber. The computing device, upon receiving the incoming call message, will provide one or more call processing options to the subscriber. If the subscriber selects one of the call processing options, the computing device will send a subscriber response message identifying the selected call processing option. Based on the selected call processing option, the incoming call will be processed accordingly.

Dynamic call processing control

The present invention provides for modification of call features and the priority to initiate these call features on an overall office, group, or subscriber level. In essence, configurable feature queues may be created and associated with any number of subscribers or groups of subscribers in a call processing environment. Preferably, a standard feature queue is provided for an office. The call features and the sequence in which the call features are implemented are modifiable within the standard feature queue for the entire office. Additional feature queues for identified groups of subscribers may be created and modified as desired to provide a unique feature queue for that particular group. Similarly, feature queues may be created and modified for individual subscribers. As such, the present invention provides for customized feature queues on a per-office, per-group, or per-subscriber level.
