An improved translating cowl (transcowl) assembly for a thrust reverser system for a turbine engine is provided. The transcowl assembly comprises an outer skin comprised of a first composite material and an inner skin comprised of a second composite material. The inner skin is configured to couple circumferentially within the outer skin and creates a flow path for engine exhaust flow. The inner skin comprises a contoured depression configured to provide clearance for movement of a blocker door. A metallic bracket is disposed between the inner skin and outer skin.

Composite translating cowl assembly for a thrust reverser system

An improved translating cowl (transcowl) assembly for a thrust reverser system for a turbine engine is provided. The transcowl assembly comprises an outer skin comprised of a first composite material and an inner skin comprised of a second composite material. The inner skin is configured to couple circumferentially within the outer skin, and creates a flow path for engine exhaust flow. The inner skin comprises a contoured depression configured to provide clearance for movement of a blocker door. A metallic bracket is disposed between the inner skin and outer skin.

A heat resistant washer for a heat resistant fastening system and a heat resistant fastening system is provided. The heat resistant washer includes a fire retardant material, and a housing that includes a base and a flange, with a throughbore defined through the base to receive a fastener. The housing defines a cavity adjacent to the throughbore and at least one guide. The fire retardant material is disposed within the cavity and the at least one guide directs the fire retardant material in an active state out of the cavity.

Apparatus are provided for a shield and flange support for a duct. The shield and flange support includes a first side and a second side coupled to the first side to extend toward the duct. The first side and the second side cooperate to define a cavity, and the cavity includes at least one of a first insulating fluid and a first insulating solid.

Apparatus are provided for an access system for a passage defined in a component. The passage is surrounded by a flange, and the access system comprises a plug adapted to be coupled to the flange of the component to seal the passage. The plug includes a sidewall and an overhang coupled to the sidewall. The overhang is configured to substantially surround at least a portion of the flange and the plug is movable between a first, unsealed position and a second, sealed position upon the application of a force.
