A control module configured to control operation of a damper assembly includes an air damper configured to be disposed within an air duct and movable between an open end position and a closed end position, the air duct providing conditioned air to a register boot proximate the air duct. The control module includes a control module housing that is securable to the register boot. A controller is disposed within the control module housing and is configured to generate damper position control signals, the controller providing the damper position control signals to the damper assembly via a control cable that operably couples the control module with the damper assembly. An antenna extends from the control module housing and is operably coupled to the controller, and is configured to extend through an opening formed within a wall of the register boot to be positioned exterior to the register boot.

Damper system control module

A damper system is configured for installation in ductwork including a duct supplying conditioned air through a register boot to a register vent. A damper is movable between a closed position and an open position. A control module includes a control module housing, a controller, a power supply and a transceiver. The controller monitors a remaining energy level of the power supply and transmits a first low battery message via the transceiver when the remaining energy level drops to a first energy threshold. The controller instructs the damper assembly to move to a predetermined position and to transmit a second low battery message via the transceiver when the remaining energy level drops to a second energy threshold.

One method includes determining a comfort preference associated with a user of a mobile device, the comfort preference including a plurality of aspects of physical comfort, storing the comfort preference in a memory, and modifying a respective operation of a plurality of connected devices in a portion of a structure to provide the comfort preference in the portion of the structure responsive to a distance between the mobile device and the portion of the structure being less than a particular threshold.

An HVAC controller may have an operational mode in which the HVAC controller provides operational instructions, and a commissioning mode in which a plurality of wireless devices can be enrolled. While in the commissioning mode, the HVAC controller is configured to accept a first input from a user via the user interface that designates a first zone of the plurality of zones and causes each of two or more first wireless devices that are subsequently placed in an enrollment mode by the user to be enrolled in the first zone, and to subsequently accept a second input from the user via the user interface that designates a second zone of the plurality of zones and causes each of two or more second wireless devices that are subsequently placed in an enrollment mode by the user to be enrolled in the second zone.

A retrofit damper system is configured for installation in existing ductwork including a duct supplying conditioned air through a register boot to a register vent. The retrofit damper system includes a damper assembly including a damper blade and a damper motor configured to drive the damper blade between a closed end position and an open end position. A control module includes a control module housing and a controller within the control module housing that is configured to regulate operation of the damper motor. The controller outputs a drive signal that causes the electric damper motor to drive the damper blade to the desired position and creates a plurality of interruptions in the drive signal while driving the damper blade. A sense circuit senses back EMF signal, and the controller estimates a blade position based at least in part on the back EMF signals.

A system includes first and second access points. Each access point includes one or more 802.11 wireless radios configured to communicate with a wireless node. The first and second access points are both configured to wirelessly receive first data from the wireless node at substantially a same time and forward the first data. The first and second access points are also both configured to receive second data for the wireless node. The first access point is configured to wirelessly transmit the second data to the wireless node, and the second access point is configured to refrain from transmitting the second data to the wireless node while the first access point is operating properly.

A leveraged positioning system for installation of devices within campuses and buildings. A mobile device may have a position indicator associated with it. A campus or building information model may be available for reference relative to a location of the mobile device as noted by the position indicator. A location name may be derived from the model and used for an installed device since the mobile device is at the position of the installed device during placement of the installed device. A physical address may be assigned to the installed device. The physical address and the location name may be stored as a pair in memory for the device. Additional devices for installation may be treated similarly.

The system can include a plurality of access points, where each access point in the plurality of access points is wirelessly connected to at least two other access points in the plurality of access points. The third access point can transmit a message to the secondary parent device when the third access point fails to confirm that the primary parent device successfully received the message transmitted by the third access point.

Methods include identifying a position of at least one location anchor on a site rendering, determining, for a plurality of positions on the site rendering, an estimated error value of location accuracy as a function of position on the site rendering, generating an overlay rendering of the estimated error values of location accuracy for the plurality of position on the site rendering, and the site rendering with the overlay rendering therewith.
