Various embodiments described herein each provide one or more of systems, methods, software, and data structures that facilitate document-authorized access to a shared workspace. Some of these embodiments provide access to a shared workspace, such as a document review comment repository, through data embedded within a document. Mere possession of a document with a key, or other data element, allows a possessor of the document to participate in a workflow process.

Document-authorized access to a shared workspace

A method and system to manage document workflow communication is provided. The system may include a polling module to poll a server at an active polling rate to obtain resources associated with a workflow of an electronic document, a ramp-down trigger detector to detect a workflow ramp-down trigger event, and a throttling module to initiate a ramp down of the polling of the server according to a ramp-down schedule. In one example embodiment, the electronic document workflow may be associated with collaborative review of the electronic document.

Method and system to manage document workflow communication

A method and apparatus for an improved workflow for choosing an intended target element from an imprecise touch on a touch screen display comprises determining whether a touch is within a bounding box of precisely one of a plurality of elements on a touch screen display; expanding the bounding box of all of the elements in the plurality of elements; determining whether the touch is within the expanded bounding box of at least one element in the plurality of elements; calculating a distance between the touch and a center of the bounding box for at least two elements in the plurality of elements, wherein the touch is determined to be within the expanded bounding box of the at least two elements; and determining a target element based on the shortest calculated distance between the touch and a center of the bounding box of the at least two elements.

Method and apparatus for choosing an intended target element from an imprecise touch on a touch screen display

In one embodiment, a method of validating an input parameter to a function call is provided. In this method, the function call for a function is received, and this function call includes an input parameter. A validation rule associated with the function is accessed from a file that is located separately from the function itself. The input parameter then is validated based on the validation rule associated with the function, and the function may then be called based on the validation of the input parameter.

Validation of function call parameters

Various embodiments include at least one of systems, methods, software, and data structures to evaluate function calls within a host, such as a scripting or application programming interface (API) host, prior to execution. Such embodiments may determine if a called function is authorized for execution. When the function is not authorized for execution, the function is not executed. Authorized and unauthorized functions may be set in a representation including one or both of authorized and unauthorized function functions. The representation may be stored external to the host so as to be modifiable.
